There is nothing other than boring caves. You will be tired and sweating too much. Moreover the caves are not even maintained. It will cost you more than 500 INR per person. You have to walk around 4-5 km. Good place if you are interested in caves.

The ferry from Gateway of India was SLOW in the extreme, and crowded. It was hot too, and the setting sun was in our eyes :( However, by the time we reached the island, the toy train was waiting, and we hopped on it rather than walk to the caves. Then followed a half a km climb through shops, which... More

Traveled to Mumbai on 13th Aug16 and visited the Caves on 14th Aug.16. The ferry has two types of tickets: Rs.145 and then Luxurious Rs.180. Guys there is no difference. We purchased the Luxurious and found no difference in the boat. We also inquired from the boat man and reply was " it's same". Journey to caves via sea is... More

Apart from all good things that are there - the monuments, caves, silence and science look how the Maharashtra govt treats a WORLD HERITAGE!!!!!!!!!!! People have made it so dirty that its pungent smell would force you to flee the area - request to maintain such places with proper hygiene so that people take back a good image of our... More

An Amazing old structure in the middle of the bay. Worth seeing in person, climb the stairs, or pay to be carried up on a palanquin. Caveats: use bathrooms before getting on the boats, open pit sewers are difficult for westerners to endure. Please do not through water bottles off the sides, there is already 3-6 feet of such trash... More

It may take one hour from Gateway of India on a boat, it may take another hour to see the entire site with 5 caves, but it is well worth the time and effort. Though the entrance fee to the cave is 500 Rupees, which is 30 times more than locals pay, it is still not that much from the... More
