this is a good touring spot however lots of visitors have no idea of environmental pride and cleanliness is a serious issue. It is heart breaking to see plastic bottles, plastic wrappers, cigarette butts etc everywhere, esp in the dam.

I see boating is the only attraction here. Speed boat for a couple, they charge Rs. 600 for 15 minutes ride. Speed boat ride was awesome. Some told that we can view the elephants coming to drink water during the boating. We didn't have luck though to see any elephant. there is a adventure park named "Cow Boy" inside it... More

This place is very nice for spending some peaceful time with your partner or family. You can walk down to the river bank and sit there for hours listening to the sound of water.

Mattupetty Dam is located approx 15 km away from Munnar, The main attraction is the dam and the lake here, The dam is a storage concrete structure. It has speed boating facilities. But avoid on weekends & holidays. You may struck in Traffic jam. As it has no proper traffic management, no proper parking space & not wide enough road.

The dam can get hot and humid during summer months by over all experience with staff there and motor boat is a must do for fun, decent experience for kids too. Limited options for quality food but manageable.

The dam has been divided with 3 stops for visitors. First is a small shopping point near the Floodgates. HydroElectric power station is situated here. The next stop is for boating. They take entry tickets to for the park which is designed around the Boat Jetty. Speed boating is really good as it takes you closer to the banks of... More
