A Dam and a Manmade Lake. Pretty Vista
The dam has created a lake that has paddle boats and kyacks for rent. The dam also has a small hydro facility, and you can drive across it. Lots of vendor stalls in the area. The pretty bit is the lake, and boating.

    Mattupetty Dam
The Mattupetty Dam itself is massive, especially during the rainy season when it's filled with water. You can walk along a road that goes across the dam, with the dam gate on one side and a beautiful valley on the other. You don't need tickets to walk across; you can park nearby and stroll over for the best views. If you're planning to go, definitely bring a cap to protect yourself from the sun. The whole experience was fantastic. At the dam, you can take various boat rides like jet skis, pedal boats, and kayaks while enjoying stunning mountain views. The whole place is peaceful, and the breeze makes it even better. It's a great spot to relax, and if you're into photography or nature, you'll love it. You might even see some wildlife along the shores. Boat rides are a big draw here. You can take a bigger boat with an upper deck for a nice tour of the dam. There's also a speedboat option, but it's pricier at Rs. 750 per person. Pedal boats and kayaks are more affordable, at Rs. 200 and Rs. 400 respectively. If you're lucky, you might see elephants by the lake. The dam is located on the way to Eco Point, and parking is Rs. 20 for cars. Besides boating, you can go horseback riding or take an elephant ride. They also have snacks, tea, and coffee available, along with restrooms and a professional photoshoot set up at a nearby tea garden. Just be aware that cell service isn't great, so it's smart to bring cash.

Great dam ride with animal sighting
We reached early - 10am and did not find much crowd. The boating point has 2 ticket counters - the first one is online and second one is offline. If you prefer to do it online you can scan the qr code in the parking itself We took the speed boat option and paid another 200 to the driver asking him to give us a great ride and take us to good photo points. We were also lucky that we spotted a herd of elephants frolicking in the water! The speed boat costed us Rs 1080 for 15 minutes. 15 minutes may not seem a lot at first, but once on the boat you feel it’s sufficient as boat takes you for a long ride - around 2km because of its speed!

Very crowded. 1-3 hours waiting for the boat. 1080 fee for 5 person speed boat, 1400 for 7 person, and 150 each shared large slow boat. There is an entry fee as well (40/- adult, 20/- kids) even if you don't boat. Has a mini activity park inside (500/- adult, 300/- kids).

Go for the activity park, or else skip. Avoid boating here and just do at Echo Point or Kundala Dam.

A nice place to visit in the day when one is in Munnar. A very quiet place which gets us close to the Mother Nature. The boating arrangement is there. A good place to sit and spend time together away from the hustle of life in the cities.
