Kutch region discovery was a wonderful experience, both for the landscapes and local culture and both for Kuldip, the Kutch Adventures guide, and his family.

When we met him in his beautiful house, with a quiet garden while sipping a cup of masala chai, we felt truly welcomed. Kuldip has an extraordinary ability to relate with people and put them at ease, thanks to his warm sensitivity and kindness.

We spent 3 days with him and other friendly guests, across remote villages, Kutch salt desert, many sunsets - some of them with the buffalos, a cattle fair, flamingos and wild camels, sunrises in the desert, dinners cooked in the villages and eaten in the huts, nights watching the stars… The list would be much longer but it doesn't give the right idea of the emotions and intensity of this experience.

Kutch is a wild land where you can feel in touch with the local community and nature in an authentic way, and Kuldip offers you the opportunity to make this experience off the beaten tracks. Kuldip in not only an excellent guide, he loves his land, and he is able to enthusiastically transmit this love to you, with competence, experience, joy, big heart and great sense of humor 🙂

It's like spending time with a friend who wants to share his world with you.
After this visit we felt enriched and very grateful.
We usually don't book guided tours when we travel but this experience is much more than that.
Unforgettable.

From the communication before arrival to the moment I left, this experience was 5/5.
I was due to stay one night at Kuldip’s homestay and then head straight out on the desert safari adventure but when I arrived to his home (in the suburbs of Bhuj) and was greeted by his gorgeous, kind and welcoming family - I knew I wanted to stay longer!

Ankita and Broodoola Bai (sorry if spelling is wrong - Kuldip’s wife and mother) are the women who keep the place organised and cook delicious food - honestly some of the best food I’ve had in India!! I ended up staying 3 nights which days it all!

The Kutch Adventure was indeed that! Kuldip is a warm-hearted free-spirit. He listens to what you want to get out of the trip but also guides you as an expert of the area and then plans the adventure accordingly. I came to this area for the salt-flats, which were incredible to experience as the sun set, but the Great Rann of Kutch gave me so much more!

We explored and identified the majestic birds in the marshes, we saw herds of camels in the desert, we even joined the buffalo herders on an excursion one evening. We saw the sunrise and trekked over the Black Mountain. We saw the local artisans produce rugs, block printing on silk, wood work and lacquer painting. We spent the evenings around the campfire with the villagers, we dined and slept as the locals did in the villages.

I turned my phone onto airplane mode and was completely present in this stunning part of the world - thanks to Kuldip.

It was an experience I’ll never forget.

Thank you to the whole family! 🙏

Having seen beautiful pictures of the White Rann, we were intrigued by the Kutch region. But not knowing how to start exploring this place, we got in touch with Kuldip. He was able to fit us into his tight schedule at short notice and brought us on an adventure beyond our expectations and off the usual touristy tracks. We didn’t see the White Rann with him in the end but we experienced more than what travel blogs and tourist magazines could ever tell us about this place.

Kutch Adventures is not like any other travel agency. It is built on Kuldip’s deep connection and respect with and for his homeland and the communities that make the place. Travelling with Kuldip is an experience like no other.

There is no overpacked itineraries and tourist checklists to complete. Just simply being and connecting meaningfully with a place and the people, leaving room for unexpected moments of delight and beauty.

We trekked and immersed ourselves in a mesmerising landscape under the setting sun and were delighted by an unexpected sighting of desert foxes. We spent a day with a nomadic Rabari family, sipping chai made with milk fresh from their flock of goats, listening to their stories about their lives. These simple experiences filled our hearts with awe and joy.

Staying in Kuldip’s homestay is another experience in itself. It is a peaceful sanctuary away from the chaos of the city. We enjoyed many conversations over chai and the food that Kuldip’s wife (Ankita) and mother cooked was better than some of the food we tried in hotels and restaurants.

If you are looking for an authentic experience, to BE in a place and not just SEE a place, come with an open heart and you’ll find an experience beyond expectations.

If you are planning to visit Kutch you must contact Kuldip at Kutch Desert Adventures. If you aren’t planning to visit Kutch you should rethink your plans 😊 and include this experience of “Real India” and add Kutch to your plans.

We spent 4 days with Kuldip touring the Kutch area of Gujarat India, staying at his family home homestay in Bhuj - and it was the perfect experience for the last week of our 4 week trip to India.

It did not feel like being driven around by a tour guide, it was like being hosted by a friend who was excited to show us everything he loved about his home, the places and the people.

Local Craftpeople:
focusing on smaller producers off the “ tour bus” track. Weavers, bellmakers, block printers, embroiders, quilters but not seeing just the crafts themselves, but meeting the families, joining them for chai or lunch, gaining an understanding and appreciation for the art and lifestyle. Kuldip also leads United Artists of Kutch so he is part of the community he is sharing - not just an observer showing things to tourists

-Nature and landscape:
Our time with Kuldip was completely tailored to our interests, preference and pace. We gained an appreciation to the unique beauty of this area with a sunset walk in the hills just out of town; a sunrise motorcycle trip and hill walk ( my request - my husband happily slept in that morning 😊); taking the time as we drove around the countryside to stop and watch water buffalo enjoy a “ mud puddle spa”, walk along a gorgeous- and deserted - ocean sand beach, pause to notice a birds nest, a crocodile, a first wave of migratory cranes.

Communities and people:
Lunch in a traditional village hut - welcomed by the village matriarch proud to share her culture and family; waving with shipbuilders at work as we learned about their industry in the coastal town of Mandvi; chatting with vendors and fellow market goers - in the fruit market where we bought delicious fresh custard apple, in the intriguing meat and fish market, in the goods market chatting to the multi generations of store owners; greeting a Rabari shepherd walking his camel along the road. These interactions were all possible because of Kuldip’s love and respect for all people - and especially those of his home country.

Homestay:
Staying at Kuldip’s home was comfortable, relaxed - like staying with a favourite cousin. We felt welcomed as guests, but in that perfectly relaxed family way where there is no fuss and daily life continues. We did not feel we were intruding (something I worry about in homestay style accommodation!) and there was time and space to recharge alone with a book, and to hang out chatting with the family as the mood suited.

And the food at Kuldip’s homestay was amazing!
While I love trying any new food, my husband is a picky eater, doesn’t like spicy food, not a big fan of vegetarian food… so was fearing how he was going to handle this situation. But the meals we had at Kuldip’s homestay turned out to be my husband’s favourites from the whole trip! Kuldip’s wife - with help from his mother - created amazing, balanced, flavourful vegetarian dinners that we both loved. For breakfast he was catered for with cornflakes while I enjoyed the best idly and poha breakfasts.

Kuldip is a true proponent of responsible tourism; he balances the experience of the visitor and the responsible and sustainable impact to the community equally. The opportunity to experience this area through the loving, respectful and observant eyes of our host was everything we could have asked for.

Highly, highly recommend.

A day out into the Kutch villages with Kuldip is a forever memorable and deeply meaningful experience. Best would be 3-4 days. Kuldip is infinitely sensitive to the culture and heritage of these villages, some quite remote. He is a gentle guide to his tour guests letting them know how to act appropriately, when not to take photos and much more. These are his people and he is passionate about sharing them with his guests.

The first ever home stay in my life and we really loved it. Kuldeep and his magical family really make you feel so comfortable. It was a home away from a home. Our trip was very methodically planned by Kuldip which covered most parts of Bhuj including local sight seeing, white Rann, Rann Utsav, Dhola Vira (Harappan civilisation), small villages where local handicraft can be witnessed, Mandvi the beach and unique Ship Building Yard.
Kuldeep himself is a nature lover, very kind hearted, knowledgable, and loves to promote weaken section of people with skill.

We did a 2-day trip from Bhuj to Kutch. Kuldip arranged everything from planning to accommodation, transportation and sight seeing. Kuldip was patient and responsive to all my queries prior to the trip and managed all aspects of the trip. He directly engaged villagers and taxi drivers which went a long way in promoting sustainable tourism. He later hosted us at his house as well which was touching and personal. There are very few travel agents who take their profession with this level of passion and stand for certain principles. Good job Kuldip and Kutch tourism is in safe hands with people like you

Kuldip Ghadavi knows Bhuj and the surrounding area like the back of his hand. He loves Gujurat and Gujurat loves him. This was apparent from all the people who greeted him while we toured, from museum guards to a long lost "brother", none of whom had any thing financial to gain. Kuldip knows textiles and the masters who make textiles and their respect for one another's work and artistry is obvious. Kuldip has run a very successful business for a decade now, thanks to his authenticity, his inate knowledge of the region, its people, crafts, history and culture. He's the real thing. We four from Canada and Latvia did a home stay with his family. His mother makes the best food in India, and Ankita and their son are hospitality personified.

Kuldip was our local the tour guide for 5 days in the Kitchen area studying textiles. A survivor of the 2001 earthquake he shared so much with us and brought us to local villages rarely visited by tourists. He is a natural teacher and believes in eco tourism and walks the talk. He truly helps so many families in this rural area.

It is rare that I find an operator and guide that mimics my sentiments on responsible, sustainable and positive impact tourism. Kuldip not only talked the talk, but also walked the walk. With a group of 10 women with differing demands and needs, kuldip managed to deliver on every front (seemingly with ease). I can’t imagine any other individual matching his enthusiasm, interest and passion for his work. Can not recommend highly enough.
