This place should be better publicised! We spent the evening watching a film projected on the roof terrace then looked at some of the planets through their telescope. A lot of the evening was run by students/teenagers who were so welcoming and knowledgeable. You can learn as much as you want or just enjoy the experience which was different to any other night spent in India.
Interestingly, this was the only place we visited in India where there was no pressure to part with any money yet we thought it was worth lots more than some of the more popular touristy things. (We left them a donation but that wasn't under any pressure).
Even if you/your kids are only mildly interested in space, I'm sure you/they would enjoy an evening spent here.

The Public Astronomy Observatory in Panjim is a hidden gem for astronomy enthusiasts and curious minds. Located in the heart of Goa's capital, this observatory offers an awe-inspiring experience of the cosmos. The staff is knowledgeable, making even complex astronomical phenomena easy to understand. Their guided stargazing sessions are a treat, especially for children and families.

The highlight is their powerful telescopes, which provide breathtaking views of celestial wonders such as the Moon, planets, and distant stars. The observatory also hosts informative talks and interactive workshops, fostering a deeper appreciation for space science.

With its serene ambiance and educational value, this observatory is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the wonders of the universe. A perfect blend of education and inspiration!

Was not aware of this place for many years despite living in Panaji. An amazing place for astronomy lovers and children to learn. The club takes great effort in explaining basic astronomy to the public and managing the observatory.
