Despite a torrential downpour at all times (we went during the Monsoons), I have beautiful memories of Fontainhas. The colourful buildings, distinct Portguese architectural styles and an amazing concentration of galleries, cafes and restaurants, Fontainhas is hard to beat for those interested in a low-key and chilled out kind of visit. We stayed at Afonso guest house which is in... More

Fontainhas is the old Portuguese/Latin Quarter in Panjim city. They are a set of vibrant narrow lanes and winding alleys filled with beautiful colorful houses and spellbinding architecture. They are unlike any place in India and for a moment I forgot if I was in Goa or a small town somewhere in Europe. After reaching here in the early morning,... More

One of Mario Miranda's paintings titled 'Street in Fontainhas', captures the old world charm of this area. Fontainhas has heritage buildings with a unique Indo-Portuguese influence and the buildings are well preserved. There is the lovely street that leads upto St Sebastian chapel and the alleyways have some very quaint houses and art galleries. While there visit the handicrafts shops... More

Fontainhas is beautiful. The locals maintained the typical Portuguese Architecture and you have many hostels and Restaurants with this influence not only outside, but inside of the house/building. Excellent option in Panjim

I love this kind of "remixed" places. Portuguese architecture in the tropics and a distinctive way of life.

Lovely quiet historic portuguese area only a short walk from the Immaculate Conception Church. Pastel coloured buildings are worth making the effort to go and see.
