Of the historic churches of Old Goa, this one is currently the most dilapidated and in need of restoration. There is an air of mildewy neglect which encompasses the interior. There are no pews inside the church and it seems not to have been in active use for some time. Having said that, it retains a beautiful altar-piece with elaborate wood-carving. There are also some simple frescoes on the walls. Finally, the peaceful atmosphere contrasts favourably with the carnivalesque shenanigans at Bom Basilica.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site in Old Goa has many beautiful churches one of which is this church dedicated to Our Lady of Rosary. Not being that crowded keeps the ambience calm and prayerful.

The Church of Our Lady of Rosary is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Old Goa and is located on top of a hillock next to the St. Monica convent and Museum of Christian Art. The place receives rather lower tourist footfalls compared to some other attractions such as the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral and tends to be quiet and peaceful at most times.

Compared to the aforementioned churches as well as others such as Church of St. Cajetan, this particular church seems rather plain with nothing much to catch one's attention inside. Outside, however, one can get amazing views of the Mandovi River (up to Panjim on a clear day) as well as the other churches of Old Goa and in my opinion, is the main reason why one must visit this place. Spend around 20 minutes here, entrance is free.

This fortress looking church is Manuline in style. The church was built in fulfillment of a vow taken by Afonso de Albuquerque while he watched the battle between his forces and forces of sultan of Bijapur from the spot where the Church now stands. His vow was fulfilled after his death when the church was completed in 1549.

Church of Our Lady of Rosary or Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in India - "Churches and Convents of Goa". It additionally takes the honor of being the oldest of the Old Goa churches still standing. It is a site of religious, cultural and historical significance. Highly recommended.
