Panaji Kala Academy is barely 1 km from Panaji Market - a short walk on the main road. It offers a calender of Artistic events. The day I visited a local school was presenting its Annual Program in the large Bandodkar Auditorium. The school program by tiny tots in primary classes, was simply mind-blowing. The overall atmosphere of goodwill, spontaneous energy & cheerful group efforts was heartwarming. Later in the evening 2 shows of a Marathi drama were scheduled. Panaji Kala Akademy offers a perfect evening of Fine Arts. An Expo on the premises offered a large variety of hand-crafted utility & textile & food products as an added bonus. A must-visit for any serious visitor to Goa !

Kala Academy is one of the nicest place to hang out around Panjim. You can reach here by bus or also can walk. The road is surrounded by dense large trees. There are one major threatre here with around 1000 sea capacity and few small ones. You may find some concerts or programs going on in this location often. It has also a canteen and behind the academy is a beautiful lawn and a lighthouse. You can spend 1-2 hours roaming around this place or attending some exhibition or shows. There is no entree fee.

I might have visited this place at the wrong time. Everyone recommended it. I just missed an art exhibit and only found an empty room. There was no information about events during the day I visited or what you could do there. There were events on other days. I did wander around but couldn't find anything going on. I did hear someone playing a Christmas tune on some instrument but that's it. Nice grounds overlooking the ocean. Nearby is an art park which was very nice. I think it was just the wrong timing. There is a movie theater there you can buy tickets for movie in Hindi. The building was very interesting but no information about it. It would be nice to have audio tours you could purchase or something. Plenty of great Indian artists that could have been displayed in the space.

A very nice place to learn music, art, paintings and many more cultural activity. The Kala academy is so nicely situated on the banks of Mandovi river, surrounded by beautiful green garden. Consists of two amplhy theatres for shows.auditorium for drama, cultural concerts and regiaonal film festivals. It has got canteen also where you can get good munching food. And if you are student then much more cheaper too. many new painters exhibits their art / paintings in art gallery.
