Goa conjures memories of pristine beaches, greenery and good food. But for a change to experience the actual feel of Goa one must walk down it's by lanes. The heritage walk was one such experience. As we walked we saw so many beautiful quaint houses. They have been painted with beautiful colours especially The Fountainhas area. We could not enter the Chapel as renovation work was going on. May be shall take this walk again on our next visit to see the Chapel

Tip: Try to take your walk in the day from 7.00 am to 9.00 am or 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm. since you will be walking on the Road covering the Fontainhas Area, there are a lot of houses and a couple of Chapels/crosses of the Portuguese times, You can just stroll around with your camera and your favourite snack.

Because of my husband's bad knee, we took a 'walk' by car and stopped at most of the gorgeous old Portuguese houses, some better kept than others....we have learned that there are often legal disputes between family members for these properties

Explore the hystory and heritage through a fantastic Walk. No sign boards here. It look like a place on hollywood movies of 1970's. Old traditional houses, Churches, Palaces etc...

The place looks like an old dutch colony, very neat and clean with old buildings. You will really enjoy moving around at the place. Avoid with children, good for shopping, have lunch at welcome heritage.

You get transported to a different era all of sudden..Nice to see the old traditional houses. Interesting to note no boundary walls between houses. Peaceful surroundings..
And across the Rue de Ourem, you can see the new buildings that lack the beauty.
