This institute was set up to protect and preserve the extremely important Ohrid Trout which is an endangered species of fish unique to only three lakes in the worl, one of which is Ohrid.

The Institute is irreplacable when it comes to the work they do. They are active in the efforts of preserving the trout, but are rarely open for the public. Worth the visit if you are into biology.
