This is a recreation based on artifacts found beneath the site. Entry cost is 100 denar. There are several pelts of fox, bear, sheep and goat. The history is interesting, but the site itself is quite mundane. If it were not for the docent to explain everything I would not have known what was so special.

Interesting to have seen this. There is some explanation in English. Be careful where you put your feet. You walk on planks with rusty nails. When we arrived there was a car and two buses, but when we wanted to leave we were completely blocked by poorly parked buses. This made our stay twice as long as planned. The museum can't do anything about that, but it will ruin your visit. Also because the bus driver who had trapped us could easily drive two meters forward to let us out, but he didn't want to and he acted as if he didn't understand us. Pathetic figure.

Astonishing and beautiful location fir this floating museum. Have to say a truly amazing, beautiful place in Lake Ohrid with views of the surrounding countryside.

The museum itself is an old settlement village built on stilts sitting in a truly beautiful place. Surrounded by gardens which were beautifully manicured and offering drinks and coffees to dit and enjoy the views.

The settlement looks like it was built from sticks and mud bricks. If you are in the neighbourhood or have booked a Lake Ohrid tour, then you will enjoy this lovely little place as part of your journey.

A very interesting presentation about the history of life many centuries ago. The neighbourhood and the houses are very nicely restored, so you can understand how they lived here. The museum displays many objects found at the bottom of the sea. Although we were a bit sceptical whether to see it from the inside or not, we are glad we decided to take a look.

Bay of Bones is a cultural landmark. Reconstructed settlement from Bronze and Iron Age, 1200 to 700 BC. Opened in Dec 2008. Go through the recreated houses to see how the people lived at that time. Small museum has artifacts from the site. Entry is 150 MKD. You can get there on the Alexander Cruise Tour from Ohrid.

We visited this week on the way to St Naum.
Streuch (not sure of spelling) is Macedonian and is the guide of the museum. He was amazing in the depth of his knowledge. He is an archaeologist.
We learnt a great deal and spent about an hour between the museum and the sight.
My husband also climbed to the old fortress and the view was lovely.

A reconstruction of a small village on wooden piles driven into the lake. It is well done and most photogenic. In the reeds a family of frogs chimes up every half hour or so to shout at each other in froggish. Really quite noisy and worthy of a recording for an individual phone ringtone.

It is a reconstruction of an Illyrian pseudo-village on stilts. Seen from the shore it seemed very similar to certain reconstructions on Alpine lakes where, however, there are also remains of real stilts. Probably interesting for children.

We had organised a day trip from Ohrid via Bel Mercedes taxis, to see the Bay of Bones, St Naum and then into Albania. Unfortunately the Bay of Bones museum was closed but we managed to have a good look from the outside. In such a stunning location over the lake but will have to go back!

The museum was good. There was a lot of huts with many animal furs. It was like you were back in their time. There was a lot of old tools and furnaces. Sadly, the interior museum was closed. Very budget friendly though!
