Yes it is a great experience and yes the vievs are stunning… but even after 2 weeks without a rain it was the mud was knee deep, and so rubber boots are a must. The mud was for I think 9 km 🤔 out of 12 😂 it gets cold up there so you need take warm clothes. If it wasn’t for the mud I think I would recommend this trek to everyone and I would say it is medium hard. But this is not a case so if you are nat ready to go in the mud for 5-6h one way - it is not for you.

We booked this two day trekking to the with a local agency and were lucky to get Fabian and Segundo as our guides. They cooked a delicious meal in the refugio and gave a lot of interesting details about the region and it's people. The laguna Amarilla is a hidden gem, but worth the two days of hiking. Just be careful if they propose to do the trek in rubber boots, your feet might don't like it so much.

The visit to the Altar volcano was an exceptional experience. The favorable climate and dry road made the journey easier, although the physical demands demand endurance and patience. The reward of reaching the impressive yellow lagoon makes the 8 to 10 hour journey completely worth it. A trip that combines challenge and beauty, leaving an indelible mark. ♥️🤩
