Great outdoors market where you can buy authentic ecuadorian souvenirs. They sell key chains to leather goods and ecuadorian tapestry.

The market is quite nice and there are very good local food stalls on plaza de ponchos. The earlier you come the better it is. Around noon it's getting crowded especially on Saturday.

Check out the vendors on the outer streets...Sometimes they have the most authentic work. Stroll though and compare prices of the booths that seem to have the same stuff.

We visited around 45 minutes prior to closing on a Saturday, so it had been quite busy and vendors were starting to break down. I was surprised at how firm some sellers were on their cost - in Asia if you start to walk away,...More

Enormous colourful market. Lots of stalls with many artisan products. Could easily get lost in there! Try not to spend too much money - it is very tempting to overload the suitcase!

Someone mentioned alpaca scarves for about $4.00, is there a price range for alpaca sweaters? I know it would vary on patterns and etc just looking to have a general idea.

I think that in one day you can visit Otavalo. Include the artesanal MArket, San Pablo Lake and maybe Catacachi market.
