Reach in early and spend as long as you want. Lot to see and walk. Visiting with small children needs care and attention. Try to avoid strollers, but if at all you have to bring, do not come alone.

Perhaps the definition of "breathtaking" this national park rivals any that I've been to in the U.S.A. and that's saying a lot because I am a LOVER of our national parks including Yosemite, Yellowstone, Zion and more! You will wonder how Mother Nature can make...More

Ok, so we got there about 1PM, fully anticipating it would be crowded and we weren't disappointed. Would agree with others that early AM is the time to go before the bus loads of people start showing up. Due to our travel, we couldn't get...More

We spent a full day at the lakes and I have to say the colour of the water and trees was memorising! Stunning location and a must visit if you are in the region.

Really a beautiful park with wonderful walking paths. We had only a few hours to spend here, but would have liked to have stayed all day. Very peaceful and lovely place - do not miss!

Hello, I will be visiting Plitvice in mid-Sept as a 60 yr woman. I love to walk, but realize uphill hikes are challenging. I would love to hear anyone advice about the trails to the top of the falls. Are there handrails along the path? It sounds like the hike to the top is about 8-9 km.....is it steep, or does the path zig-zag? Are there benches along the path? Thanks

There are benches along the way, and parts with uphill/downhill and sometimes stairs, but all of those have handrails. There are spaces wide enough to pass, so don't worry about your speed. People can go around, so I don't... More
Hi, If we are travelling by train from Budapest, is it best to stay in Zagreb if we want to visit the lakes? Are you able to stay near/in the lakes national park? Thank you

It is possible to visit Plitvice Lakes from Zagreb. Distance is approximately 140 km. However, you would need to rent a car in order to get to the lakes. There are also buses that leave from Zagreb main terminal to Plitvice... More
We'll be travelling to Plitvice Lakes from Zagreb by bus, spending the day there and then moving on to Zadar, also by bus. My question is, is there somewhere at the Park where we can safely leave our luggage while we walk around?

Sorry as we had a vehicle, we didn't need to leave our belongings we were not carrying. If you contact the park I am sure the staff will assist as we found them very helpful.
