Overview
More
Visovac is a little island owned by the Catholic Church, situated in the area of the lower flow of the river Krka between two waterfalls in Krka National Park - the Roski waterfall and Skradinski buk. Prior to human habitation of the island, it was only a "White rock" in the middle of the lake. It got today's shape thanks to the work of the priests that brought the land to the shallow water and separated it from the water with a wall, so the island with its vegetation became a "little paradise".

Beautiful small island with a monastery and museum, surrounded with amazing garden.Monastery which is located on the Krka river, where the Franciscan order and beauty of glorious nature made the perfect combination of mysticism, spirituality, God's presence and the beauty of nature in one place.

In this place (located in a small island in the middle of Krka river), apart from the smal monastery and a curious museum, there are animals, fruits, plants, and flowers. In here, actually, there was a guide welcoming to the island who provided a lot...More

The only reason this place is an attraction is because it's located on an island in the middle of a river that's actually a national park. There's a few peacocks roaming the area and you could see priests play soccer or basketball, but other than...More

there is not much to this place. The water in this section is still and looks pretty dirty. Keep going though to Manojlovac to see a spectacular waterfall.

Can't actually recommend/not recommend the boat excursion to the island to see the monastery because we didn't do it - however we drove to the viewing point at the top, overlooking the whole area with island and river, and it was gorgeous. You will easily...More

Krka National Park is Croatia's gem. Bring your camera for great shots. The monestery, old village, and too many waterfalls are all spectacular. Wear good shoes, you will be hours walking to take it all in. The climb back up from the bottom of the...More
