We stopped in Motovun on our drive up from Porec towards Skocjan Caves. The views of the town on the drive in are about as good as the views from the top! We wished we had brought a sack lunch to eat up along the...More

Having visited Motovun on numerous occasions I was horrified to see that greed seems to have overtaken the town council. Where once you could walk around the city walls for free, there are now turnstiles requiring you to purchase tickets to be able to enjoy...More

A must see in Istria. Would recommend for everyone to come and see this beauty. Go in Motovun using the old stairs - 1500 of them (or with shuttle bus) Enjoy

First of all it’s beautiful from a distance look toward Motovun and from Motovun looking out at the valley Unfortunately, it has become highly commercialized with taking your money at the bottom to park, overpriced shops and restaurants.

Visited Motovun and Groznjan but wished we had gone to Buzet instead of Motovun. First up you arrive at an overly priced car park. You pay a flat rate so you can stay all day but really you don't need much more than an hour...More

Definitely worth the walk up the hill to the citadel. Sad that since we visited last year the powers that be have installed shiny new turnstiles and are selling tickets- have they no soul?? But anyway, block them out of your mind and just cough...More

We were up here for a visit and food in the spectacular surroundings but if you really want to see all around walk the walls. Not as strenuous as walking up the hill to Motovun in the first place

The ancient city walls give you an amazing view over the valley. I recommend visit them during sunset.

Stopped in Motovun after reading reviews. Quite a hike to the top, even with close parking. Nice views of the surrounding countryside. Nice to stop in one of the cafes for a drink on the terrace. Not that much in the town itself. I hate...More

Wall of Motovun is one of real example how is a city developed on top of a high hill. 277 meter-high hill gives you breathtaking views and opportunity to make beautiful pictures above the Mirna valley. Also we believe that Toscana has brother from another...More
