We went with the lokal bus from Jelsa to Whar. It was a nice bustrip over the Mountain and hills where we got to see a bit more on the way to Whar. In Whar we went to the castle. It was spekaculare, and the view from the top of the castle was fantastic.

Definitely worth the short walk up the steps to reach the Fortress. Not that much to see of interest in the actual fort, but the views alone are worth the energy and small entry fee. I'd say it's a must do if in Hvar. Particularly at sunset. Enjoy.

Half hour walk from town and you are on the fortress. It is worth a little effort for the view. Beautiful view on Hvar and sea is something you have to see.

OK, the view is perfect, but the fortress is so big that it could have small shops that brings you back to the history, museum, winery, restaurant... and what it has is a bar that is not attractive at all. Very disappointed. Wake up Croatia!

The top of this fortress is the absolute best way to see Hvar Island! On a clear day you can see for miles, which makes the climb to the top worth it! Otherwise, an interesting exhibit, a good way to spend an hour or two.

The Hvar Fortress or Fortica Španjola is a defensive fortress overlooking the city of Hvar. We visited Hvar on the Blue Cave and Hvar tour with Portal Tours from Split. It's a bit of a climb up the hill from the city to the fortress, but definitely worth the effort. We passed through some lovely gardens on the hike up... More

Gives you an amazing view over Hvar even though it is quite tough to walk up to it from the city centre. :) Make sure you have enough water with you and do it early in the day. The fortress is beautiful and the museum in it gives you a good understanding of the history. Definitely worth a try!

A must visit when in Hvar. Top views from the fortress. There is a restaurant there too where you can have a meal or a drink.

Head up through the tiny streets off the main square of Hvar. It's a short 20 minute walk through these wonderful small streets up to the path and then up the mountain to the fortress. Once you are there you will see magnificent 360 degree views of the Palenki islands, Hvar and even the coves on the North side of... More

Amazing views!! Suggest going here for the sunset because it is stunning!! The drinks are a little high priced, but very nice and chilled out!
