We had a lovely view of Erhai Lake from the balcony of our suite at the Hilton. The lake is huge. We also took a boat ride on the lake which was very pleasant and definitely recommended. Nice cold breeze and serene!

If you are visiting Dali, then a trip or two to the lake is in order. Feeding the gulls at sunrise. Visiting the villages along its edge...especially Xizhou. Visiting the colourful ethnic-minority markets. The only drawback is that the ring road at the lake's edge was impassable in several places due to repairs. Personally, if I went here again, I... Erhai Lake and the surrounding mountains offer a tranquil place to visit. In addition to nearby Xizhou, a wonderful historic town to visit, there are numerous clusters of restaurants at different spots around the lake that serve local delicacies.

We went for a walk by the lake right after lunch. Not too many people. The weather was very pleasant. Nice photo shooting. It's best if you ride on one of the horse wagons your way in and out of the park.

Erhai in Chinese Er Sea (洱海), it is a lake not sea, the lake is calm and peaceful. There are lots of road maintenance going on, so can't get closer to the wetland, but you can visit the coast line. Quite busy, many people ride bikes and electronic cars, people everywhere. Have to hire car with driver, arrange it with... More

We rented a scooter to follow the path around the lake, but unfortunately, the majority of this is closed, due to roadworks. This meant we had to keep coming inland and, therefore, missed most of the scenery the lake had to offer. However, saying this, the tongue of the lake is worth a visit and has a couple of nice... This is the second time to go to Dali, so I just spend two days in Erhai Lake. The hotel I booked is in Shuanglang, a small village close to Erhai. From the balcony of our room, we enjoyed the lake’s sunrise and sunset directly. Very cool. We rent a bicycle to travel around the lake, but not cover all.... More

Rent a scooteror or a bicycle and get lost in the villages arond the lake! You will get an authentic view of the rural life with beautiful views. Do not forget the different small temples with all kind of gods.... We had here two of our best days in China!
