It is a small village on the coast of the Erhai Lake, about 12 miles north of the Dali Old Town. If you are into cycling, we would really recommend to rent a bicycle in the old town (about 40 CNY for 12 hours from 8am) and cycle there; but even if you are not into cycling, it is still... More

Located at 20 km from Dali. The town is full of charm in terms of architecture & layback atmosphere. We walked to the Linder Center which is open during the afternoons. Awesome roof terrace with views of the rice fields.

This place would be a good stop if you are biking around Erhai but other than that there isn't too much going on here. I wouldn't make a trip specifically to come here unless you were interested in the historical significance of the town.

This again gave us a taste of ethnic people's lives. Wonderful courtyard homes lovely to walk through the markets and see the the Bai in their traditional dress.

Little nice old village outside of Dali old time. Authentic market, nice little streets, women who chase you to buy they're products (pretty commercial)

the old part of the town is worth a visit. It can be a bit crowded, but out of the mainstreet there are still more quiet places. Take your time and don't be in a rush

Along with morning market I thought this gave a good idea of rural China, safe, scenic, popular with Chinese nationals, a relaxing stroll.

xizhou is one of the best old towns arround the Lake. What a blessing to walk arround in the old street. We did prefer this above Dali.

Arriving in the early afternoon and settling into our room we were taken on a guided walk by our guide. In close proximity to fields where garlic was being harvested were the old buildings of Xizhou. A lot of restoration is underway and mains services were being installed. However this did not detract from the feeling of being somewhere special.... More
