We were told this was called the Summer Palace of the Panchen Lamas. It is a lovely building with attractive gardens. There are elaborate and fascinating murals all over the walls inside, which is probably the best part of it. Upstairs are the old quarters of the Panchen Lama which are very interesting.

We toured the summer palace complex of the Dalai Lama and visited several of the palaces including one built for the current Dalai Lama.

The grounds are immaculate and the structures are extremely well kept. It was worth the visit to experience the history and culture of the Dalai Lamas.

It is called Panchen New Palace by some and it is called Little Potala by some. But it is surely a palace for Panchen.

It is smaller than Potala Palace and Shigatse is always considered to be "Houzang" of Tibet. houzang means the backyard of Tibet? Panchen is a tittle, only secondary to Dalai and sometimes go over.

Have not got a chance to get in but it needs entrance fee, not very touristy so a nice place to see when you have time in Shigatse.
