Our Ladies Ministry went to see White Christmas December 9th, 2022 and we had a great time. The theatre is Beautiful and very clean. We went to the Restroom and they where very clean more than I can say about a lot of places, But that is a big deal if you are going as a family. Staff was very friendly. Will always make this a yearly visit.

Went to the theater for the stand up comedy of Leanne Morgan. The acoustics were not good. I was seated in the balcony and at one point people started shouting that they couldn't hear. Leanne Morgan did all I think she could do but I just don't think the theater could provide better sound. Leanne kept asking "is that better?" And finally people started saying yes but you still couldn't hear. Several people got up and left including an entire row of women in front of us who said "no point in staying if you can't hear the comedian". We stuck it out and could hear bits and pieces. Another huge complaint was there are no tv's or monitors to watch the show on from up in the balcony area where it would be impossible to see the performer. In a comedy show gestures and facial expressions are important and nobody in the balcony could see that. It would be easy enough for them to mount some screens to the walls or hang a screen from the roof. I highly doubt I go back to this place and definitely wont go there to watch another comedy show

Beautiful just Beautiful. One can just imagine what it was like in its grand days. It’s been preserved wonderfully from the wall sconces to the fabrics that surround you. For such an historic building the bathroom and amenities are in excellent conditions. Went to a show and was so impressed with the entire ambience!

I went during the holiday movie series. There was caroling, great ambiance, themed cocktails. It was a night out on the town and so much fun! I only wish I went more often and knew about more of their events!

If you get a chance to visit the Alabama Theater do so. It is gorgeous. If you cannot go inside make sure to take some photos of the building, it is beautiful. Highly recommend.

The Alabama Theater is a grand dame of the golden age of movie houses. Built in the 1920's it is ornately finished inside in Moorish style. Seating 2,100 people the space soars. A organ rises from below onto the stage with a charming organist playing wonderful tunes. When in Birmingham regardless of what is showing, ya gotta go and experience this glorious space.

The people that operate the theater are generally accommodating. Call them and see if you can set something up.

What is the dress code for attending Alabama Theatre? Dressy or casual?

Sorry for the delayed response. Depending on the event, it can be either. For example, Swan Lake was presented by the Russian Ballet last year and dress was formal. But for film series, casual.

What are the best seats in this theater? I've found that the closest row is now always the best. Someone mentioned front row in J balcony? Thoughts?

We have sat in multiple places in the theatre. We sat on the floor about half way up from stage for a concert and it was perfect. For movies, I generally sit in the balcony on the side near the back - away from the blocking poles - for the best views of the screen and also for best people watching opportunities on the floor!
