Anyone who says this place is average or terrible has no idea what he or she is talking about. Of course, it is over commercialized, but you won't find the KFCs, McDonalds, and Starbucks which pollute other sites throughout China and all around the world....More

A very unusual piece of man made sculpturing/excavating....and on a grand scale. Small statues in little holes....and giant figures carved straight from the cliff face. It will probably be busy with tourists...but there is plenty of it to see and you could spend hours looking...More

I'd think either spring or autumn from a temperature perspective. It can get very crowded so you have to take that in to consideration as well.
