You should definitely visit it if you’re nearby (Xi’an or Zhengzhou). It’s quite interesting. West side is unique while the East side is unfortunately not as much. Tickets don’t include the bus drive. You should definitely get the drive as it is a long walk.

Chinese have a knack for maintaining their history. They take pride in preservation of their past and we could see this through out our journey. Ideally located on both banks of a river called YI, a large number of caves are carved out of lime...More

What a fantastic place to visit. It must have been an enormous work to make these caves with 100.000 buddha's. What an absolute waste that so much is destroyed by Japanese in world War II and also by the Cultural revolution in the late 70's....More

Don't miss this! The carvings and grottoes are amazing, and the park setting is very clean and well organized. The ticket office wasn't open at 7:30, so we went online and bought tickets via smart phone and proceeded to the gate for the 8:00 opening....More

The Longmen Grottoes are a series of hand-carved Buddhas with no two the same. Many are quite small while the biggest is about 70m high. Each was carved by hand! Like most Chinese tourist sites it involves a lot of walking and climbing stairs and...More

A great place to feel the influence of Buddha over hundreds of years, and to appreciate the effort of carving those grottoes with simple tools. You can rent an English audio guide and it will start introduction when you get close to the grotto. We...More

I can’t answer since we slept over. What I saw is that if you get a private tour ( which I advice )they can keep your luggage. Enjoy! S.
