This is a must-go place with astonishing views and a reasonable 10 minute hike. Not very expensive, high quality stairs. Very safe.

The view is spectacular, but ruined by the sheer amount of people up there, that are totally disrespectful of other people. I tried to film a timelapse but people kept knocking my tripod, or leaning over the railings to get infront of my camera for a photo. A kid came and sat on the floor next to my tripod and kept playing with the leg whilst the mother did nothing. It's not cheap after you've paid for a taxi and your entrance ticket, and it's just not worth it. Try cuiping mountain instead. It will be slightly cheaper and 0-5 people will go.

A “must see” when you visit the Yangshuo region. Great to see the sunrise. Check the weather forecast. Plan 20min to walk up to the viewing platforms. On your way up you are accompanied by the singing of many birds. Very good infrastructure. Entrance fee 80RMB p.P.

After a well worth several hundred (largely uneven...) steps climb, you reach the top with an out-of-this world view over the river and the hills. Unmissable!

Amazingly beautiful!A must to see when in Yangshou, I can stand there for hours and just admire the landscape. I was fortunate to see it in fairly clear weather before it covered up with cloud and rain started , but once the rain stopped it was an awesome sight to see how the mist rise from the mountains and dissapear before the sun. Got realy nice photos of the mist between the mountain peaks. Just an awesome place!

Even on a misty day, the views were amazing. Absolutely worth climbing all the steps to the top to see the river meander below between the karst mountains.

We came here by bamboo raft and then hiked to the top of the Xianggong Mountain. The mountainous landscape views are breathtaking.

It took my children and I only 12 minutes to make the short hike to see this viewpoint. I would recommend doing this as you wont want to miss this view.

Beautiful view and drive. Not too taxing as there were handrails and mostly even steps the whole way up. Glad we went but was a longer drive than the walk itself so would team this with a visit to the old town of XingPing next time.

How to go to Xianggong Mountain from Xingping? Not walking, but prefer motorbike or taxi.

The best way is to get a taxi.
To play safe, you should consider having the hotel you are staying to order one private car to send you and wait for your return after climbing up the mountain.
Best hotel accommodation is Alila Yangshuo, the best global design hotel

The parking area is already fairly high on a hill (I was thankful, since fewer steps to climb that way). I didn't see water very near. I'm quite sure you'll need a driver to get started on it.

Just want to ask the details how to go to Xianggong from Yangshuo. We are planning to visit next month and until now we haven't figure out how to go there. Where is the bus from Yangshuo stopping? Then you hike adter that took ferry then taxi? If we want to hike, are there trails to follow and are they easy to find? Hoping for your reply.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Gracey, From Yangshuo bus station (near West Street), you can take the bus to Xingping.
When you arrive in Xingping, you will walk through some of the streets but you can easily find your way out to the river.
The way to hike is to walk across the bridge and turn left. There are signs to guide you. You will pass some gorgeous scenery including the famous scenery that is on the back of the 20Yuan bill.
You will continue walking for about 5km.
If you want, there are drivers who will take you to the ferry, for 30 yuan, perhaps. I don't remember the exact amount.
The end of the road is where the Nine Horse Mural is located. I think the names of the towns are in my review, but I don't remember them now, sorry.
You will take a ferry across for 10 yuan per person, each way.
When you get to the other side, you will have to walk a short distance, but you will see a sign on a tree advertising the mountain site-I think there is a little store or building of some kind next to it. A woman came over and talked to us, but not in English. My friend spoke some Chinese, so it helped. You can hire the driver and he will wait for you while you climb the mountain. We paid 60 yuan per person, for the whole trip.
I also know there are tours you can take to catch the sunrise, so you will have the convenience of a driver to pick you up from your hotel, but it will be extremely early, I think around 4:30 a.m.
I hope this information helps. I actually got much of it from another traveler's review before my trip to Yangshuo.
If you haven't planned on it, take the Li River Cruise to Yangshuo, it is well worth it.
I hope you enjoy your trip.

Hi all, I'm trying to hike to this mountain in the early morning. I'm staying in the west side of the river, so I'm thinking I could just walk over there. I think most of the people are staying in the east side, in Xinping and then either hiking or going by boat north, to then come south to the mountain, is that correct? Would that be better than staying in the west side of the river and hiking in the early morning? Thank you!

If you plan to take Morning views of sunrise then it make sense. If that's not the priority then staying anywhere should be fine for the hiking.
