The village is very small and there are almost no old buildings in the city. After 15 minutes we manage to see the whole village.

We stumbled upon Jiuxian by accident one day while exploring via motorbike and stopped a while to wander around. This is a very small village with traditional style buildings. It's a great place to wander around and take photos and to stop for a meal at one of the cool guesthouses. Secret Garden or Rural House are both great choices for food. I bet it would be a cool area to stay the night; just be sure you have transportation.

Untouched by commercialization. We arrived by bicycle around lunchtime and among the very nice renovated old houses, we found a great restaurant, the Secret Garden (they are also a hotel). Their Chinese cuisine has a twist like nowhere else (we live in China, so I'm not counting how many restaurants we've been to).
The village's old part is tiny but nice and it's very quiet here, to rest from the agitation of West Street!

We rode there with our bike and had a quick walk around. I seemed very quiet almost abandonned. It makes for very nice pictures. And there are one or two beautiful hidden little boutique hotels.

If you are biking/scootering/walking along the Yulong and happen to be near this village it is definitely a nice place to walk through. The architecture isn some of the oldest in the area. However, it is about a 5-10 minute stop, unless you are eating there. We had an electric scooter we rode up to the village and it was worth it since it took such little effort and time, but if we had missed it, I wouldn't be upset.

Having already visited three ancient villages in China this probably was one too many. Very different and didn’t appear to be a living village as the modern village is right next door. Brick construction so different from Dong and Miao villages.

Long way out of town and I didn’t think it was worth the time. If it was closer probably worth it but only a very short visit is required.

The town itself is SUPER small, however, it's on the way to muliple attractions. We stop by Secret Garden Boutique Hotel for lunch and it was our favorite meal on this entire trip. The staffs were friendly and can speak English. The menu was authentic Chinese w reasonable price, and the outdoor garden was beyond lovely!

It really doesn't value the worse the visit. it is only made because it is in the middle or your way to somewhere else, but if you skip it you don't miss a thing

we left our bamboo raft in Jiuxian and had an extremely delicious lunch there. Nice to stroll around.

This village is great to wander around. Within just a few minutes we wandered through and came across men playing Mahjong, a woman carrying things on a stick across her back, a couple taking traditional wedding photos dressed in bright red, a lady walking her cows down the road into the field, a huge (hundreds!) flock of baby ducks, elderly men sitting in front of an ancient ancestral hall that they invited us to visit, and two fantastic restaurants. Well worth the visit!
