A great feel of local culture and peaceful surrounding. Located just next to Li River and one of the pick up point for Bamboo Raft ride. Friendly locals at morning market. Understand that the locals do not lock their home main entrance door all year round as it is a safe and secured town. A must visit town if you... More

We enjoyed painting fans in one of the shops (Peng's). The owners were very nice, charged 100Y to paint each fan (I didn't bargain). The shop owners are fifth generation fan painters, they also plant their own bamboo used to make the fans, and show you how to turn the Chinese brush painting we painted into a fan through their... Fuli used to be a popular town for supplies for traders wading up and down the river. It went on for hundreds of years until highway started to take away the business. Nowadays, with tourism taken hold and this once thriving town has become irrelevant with youngsters wandering away to bigger cities for job opportunities. What remain here comprises of... More

completely non touristy. We went to the local market here after a 70km scoorter ride thru the countryside. Ate some great rice noodles. Beware, they serve dog here.

A nice area if you visit the old town up to the river and if you have a walk around the morning market which is quite big and very interesting. We enjoyed our visit, very authentic chinese lifestyle.

My boyfriend and I came here for the afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by how great it was! Walking around the quaint old side streets we were invited into the locals' fan workshops and were greeted by many friendly locals in their front rooms! Obviously it is quite small but the many arty shops and picturesque surroundings make it a... More

We were driven here to purchase some water scrolls, it cost us around 10 RMB for the journey which was organised by our hotel. We thought that the town itself was lovely, lots of touristy souvenirs to be purchased however, we only stayed for a very short period of time. We walked through the town to the water front and... The ancient part of the town is literally one street long, with shops selling artworks and fan-making shops. Probably not worth the trip if it weren't for the local river crossing we took for RMB1 one way, which allowed us to chat with the locals and ask lots of questions. They recommended trying the pumpkin flower which was AMAZINGLY good!
