Having visited this Street ten years ago and again this month, August 2017, I found it to be a hive of activity. The atmosphere of this street is created by the many and large variety of shops as well as the multitude of both visitors...More

The restaurants here are good. There are a variety of places, from Western fast food to nicer Western restaurants, and of course, Chinese restaurants galore. The souvenirs are pretty much the same that you can buy throughout China. Carry your backpack on your stomach to...More

West Street is an open air street bazaar with plenty of shops (selling cheap knock offs for souvenirs for the kids), restaurants and bars. An interesting walk, but becoming more commercialized each week.

Lots of shops/stalls all selling the usual Chinese market tatt (chopsticks, mahjong sets, fans etc). Very popular so incredibly crowded. Lots of beggars.

All you need to buy as souvenirs is here. A little over prized, but you can bargain. Also good to have your tired feet massaged by fish :)

This area is pandering to the tourists, which isn't all bad. There are some great restaurants, a lot to see, and throngs of people. It is a fun place to people watch.
