As it seems all caves in China which have been opened to the public have been victim to some rather interesting choice in lights we decided to visit at least one while visiting the country.

We settled on this one as it was decently sized and located not too far from our hotel.
Luckily we got there early and actually had the entire cave to ourselves when visiting.

The entrance area lacks maintenance is rather run down. As you can only visit the cave by following on of the on site guides we had to wait 15 minutes and as such had plenty of time to appreciate the abundance of staff lounge around, smoke and engage in loud chatter.

The cave itself is decently long and has some very nice looking rock formations. The temperature inside is naturally cool and stable. The choice of colors are extremely random and mixed. They don't in any way help highlight the formations but they do serve to illuminate them.

No care whatsoever has gone into hiding the light armatures and all the wiring, and it does feel a bit messy at times. A major annoyance is the shops located in the cave where everything is set up in such a way that you have to walk past all the tables with souvenirs and the guides will suddenly become extremely helpful in showing you all the oddities. The prices did seem rather decent compared to West Street.

We didn't bother with the mud bath or hot spring but it was very easy to tell that both were in constructed concrete pools.

All in all we actually had a fun visit, but our expectations were rather low and we were lucky to be alone. I wouldn't have wanted be be caught inside the cave while the standard huge tour groups visit as sound carries well and the passages are narrow.

Out for a trek whilst staying in the Yangshuo area at the Zen Garden Resort in the next village down the road.

Enjoyed the reprieve from the heat of the day. Nice crystal caverns with stalagmites, a mud bath and a hot spring ... which we surely would have partaken had we been equipped with bathing costumes.

Alas it was a nice journey into the limestone mountains, and also welcome vendors of beverages, plus flush toilet facilities. Bring your own paper and hand sanitizer as always.

All the caves are the same. just pick one and go. this one have the mud bath attraction but wouldn't recommend it just for the sake of it. if you decide to do it you can buy a bathing suite out side.

The caves nice to see and colorfully illuminated. It's not very natural anymore and I'd recommend the caves in Phong Nham in Vietnam instead. That said the experience is nice and the mud-bath at the end is fun. You'll float like in the dead see! The hot-spring at the end isn't really hot nut only warm.

We have visited caves in several countries - only in China will they let you bath in the mud and the hot springs. My adventurous boys enjoyed this trip the most. The mud bath was such a unique experience. The liquid is so dense, you can float with ease. Just bring an old bathing suit, as washing out all the dirt stains has proven a challenge. The hot springs afterwards was a nice treat. Beware the multitude of shops peppered throughout the caves selling everything from wine to 'fish pedicures'. This is also called The Gold Water Cave.

My family chose this one over the other cave options, and we really loved our experience. Our guide was "V" from the Showbiz Hostel where we stayed, and he was really fantastic--highly recommend organizing with him rather than trying to go alone.

Enter the cave by boat, go past the bats, duck and climb and splash (ankle-deep) and enjoy complete dark (except for flashlights) or majestic sunlight filtering down (in one bend of the cave). Sometimes our breath was taken away as we realized the enormity of the cave around us. Mudpit at the end was a highlight for nearly everyone--weird how you can float effortlessly in mud! Then swimming at the end to clean off felt delicious in the heat of the day.

Caution--you need to be able to crouch down and sometimes nearly crawl at parts of this cave. I'm trying to say that it's not wheelchair accessible. :)

Best cave I've ever been in, I think. Certainly best caving experience, though not the biggest.

We were in Yangshuo as part of a tour group and unfortunately had our bike ride cancelled due to the weather. A silver lining was that we were able to hire a van to take us on the same route and make stops on the way for brief hikes and photo opportunities; and with the time gained we included a visit to the Moon Water Cave.

I was admittedly a little skeptical as to whether I wanted to pay the money to visit here as I'm not a huge fan of mud baths or hot springs, but I decided to go along anyway as most of the group were keen.

I was not disappointed! The cave itself got better the deeper you went; with an endless number of bright lights and mesmerising rock formations appearing after each corner and narrow corridor you take. The English speaking guide within the cave was very knowledgeable in providing some history behind the different sections of the cave, and was patient to accommodate for the large number of photo opportunities we took advantage of.

As mentioned I am not the biggest fan of the mud baths and hot springs, but they were both good fun and a nice way to relax if you've had a busy day or just want to unwind. However for me the cave itself was more than worth the entrance fee - I'd certainly go back!

While Visiting “Water Cave” in Guilin Yangshuo, I unintentionally sightly walked over a camera tripod installed in the middle of the walkway by people selling photos inside the cave. The tripod was very poorly installed with its legs almost closed, unstable, and unattended by its owner who was obviously waiting for someone to push it over. The camera felt on the ground and the people asked me some money to fix it.

Do not go there with kids!!!

During 2 hours, people were mentioning all sorts of lies, like for example intentionaly set the camera to take bad photos in order to make be believe it was completely broken. I simply prove them wrong by changing the camera settings and demonstrating it was still taking good photos. Only the back LCD display was damaged. I was told later it was damaged before.

They finally extorted me 1700 RMB.

I am sure I was not the first one facing this issue, and this camera was obviously damaged before. But I cannot prove it.
I found this practice very disappointing. I love traveling in China, but we seem to face too many times this kind of money extortion practices.

Not bad, but not very good either. The cave itself was fairly normal, like all of the other caves I have been to. However, the mud pit was pretty special, even though the pit was quite small.
