The site was okay, but definitely overhyped. I definitely don't think it is worth the early morning trek (I honestly think the tour companies just hype it this way so that they can get you for more than one tour in a day). It might be better to just arrive in the afternoon w/out the large crowds. The drive (back... More

Great to visit early in the morning before the sun rises, then watching the sun rise and the clouds of smoke up in the air. You can also heat your beverage at one of the several hot water pools around. Also, take a dive into the thermal pool.

Despite early start this was an exceptional experience. High Andes, sunrise, natural geysers and fantastic scenery. For the hardy types you can swim in the natural pools but just strolling the area and enjoying a hot chocolate heated by the natural geysers gives you an unforgettable memory

There are plenty of agencies that offer this tour in San Pedro. The tour starts at 4.00 am on a van that transports you to the place. After that, you can watch the sunrise behind the mountains, exposing a magnificent landscape in front of you. There is only one problem: the place is crowed with people, so it's quite difficult... If you arrive at the right time is a experience not to be missed. In order to fully enjoy, you need to be prepared for the weather. On part that people do not pay much attention and get frozen is the foot, regular tennis shoes with normal socks will not be enough.

I've visited this unusual place this month and I found it really special. I got into the pool with warm water even when it was very cold. I had breakfast outside, and I liked the scenery very much.

Some people seem to be disappointed with this trip and I might be too if I had paid a ridiculous amount of money for an awkward bus trip in the middle of the night to a super cold place with a poorly educated guide. We had a rental car, but we still left at 4 am to catch the sun... More

It was extremely cold when we went up to the geysers. The temperature before the sunrise was -12 degrees celsius. We've seen geysers a Yellowstone earlier and didn't find them as fascinating. It could also be because the ride to the geysers was not very comfortable for us. We should have done Salar de Tara instead.

These are a dawn tour - perhaps because the early-morning light is needed to see the steam at its best. In July it is very cold, the day we went minus 14-17 Celsius so dress warmly. The tour we took was clearly focused on income and the bus made three circuits of the town to pick up people who were... More

It was impressive to see the Geysers but the other tours were better. If going by car it's probably not worth getting up so early and the difference didn't seem big
