A real disappointment. Museum has been closed for a while now yet it is still advertised with opening hours and entrance fees. Word is that company in charge of remodeling it went bankrupt after taking everything down. At the moment, there is no new contract...More

Although widely recommended, the museum currently is closed indefinitely for renovation. During the time of our visit, there appeared to be no work in progress. No one could give a timeline for completion.

The museum has plenty of archeological objects that are hard to find somewhere else and the way these objects are showcased is both amicable, as well as highly engaging to the spectator. It has stopped exhibiting the mummies, which is a gesture I find highly...More

Eventhough it is a very interesting place and a must of San Pedro de Atacama, currently the Museum is closed and will remain closed for at least two years.

This museum is currently being knocked down. It´s supposed to be re-opening again later this year somewhere else in San Pedro. We saw it two years ago, it was worth a visit.

Don't put this on your "to do" list. It is closed. It says it is closed for renovations. That is Chilean for "closed and who knows when it will open again". Apparently, Santiago is a more important place to exhibit antiquities.

It has been closed for renovation/reconstruction or whatever, and stands out as a pathetic homage to the Jesuit padre, Fr. Le Paige, after whom it is named. With San Pedro de Atacama now being on the Global Tour and with revenue from tourism flushing in...More

This museum s closed long term for renovations and the exhibits have been moved to Santiago. It's still on tnhe tour list though, which is downright dishonest.

Very small but full of interesting displays and history telling. The famous mummies are no longer displayed due to vocal protests from the natives, but still worth the visit. And it is air conditioned!!
