You won't believe the shapes and colors of rocks, sand dunes, and caves that are take shape in these valleys, especially Valle de la Luna. Visiting this place with ample time should be one of your top priorities.

We rented bicycles in San Pedro. It was a bit more than an hour getting there. We saw a fair amount even though we needed to get back earlier in the afternoon. I recommend doing it on bicycles if you have the whole day.

I had a wonderful trip to Moon Valley. The scenery there was just spectacular. The range of colours in the desert were just amazing. The terrain was very "Mars like". I would recommend visiting Moon Valley to all who are visiting the Atacama Desert

Katherine, I was driving a rental car, so I did not take any tour. Anyway I would definetly reccommend being there during the sunset. I´d plan arriving there in the afternoon around 3:00PM should be fine.

There are no hotels inside the Valley itself, but rather they are all based in San Pedro Atacama which is a 5 minutes drive away.
