Isla Damas is a place located in the region of Coquimbo in Chile, and is at 2 hours of La Serena, it is also part of the Humboldt Penguin National Park. To get to the island you have to sail in a boat from Punta de Choros, and there you can enjoy the beautiful beaches with white sands and clear... More

We came here excited to see the penguins, but were thrilled we also got to see many dolphins and sea lions. Fun even on a cold and overcast day. It is possible to visit without a tour if you take the bus. They say to be at the bus stop by 8:30am but our bus did not leave until 9am... More

This trip was something i havent done before in my life so it was exciting to me. People said if you did something similar before, you wouldnt find this amusing. Anyway, the tour bus came slightly later than they said they would but it was alright. The tour guide, Jorge, a thin man with curly hair, was very friendly and... More

If you have seen penguins in the wild before, you will be extremely disappointed. There are Humbolt penguins that live year round this island, but not in large quantities. Other than a few interesting species of birds, some sea lions, you basically waste an entire day to see very limited wildlife and mediocre scenery.

We went in august with a tour company Ecoturismo from La Serena and it was great! Our guide really made sure that we could get as close as possible to everything. We saw dolphins up close next to our boat, penguins, baby penguins, sea lions, loads of baby sea lions, pelicans and so many other birds. The nature was also... More

Isla Damas (Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve) is located some 100km from La Serena, you got here mainly on organized tour with ecotourism companies. First I've nothing but praise for our guide (I forgot the name, sorry). He was an ex-teacher, fluent in english, spanish and french. Always there to take care of you and giving plenty of useful information.... More

make sure you don't go with a tour company if you want to go cheap! get the public bus there, then you can pay for the boat. its the same boat that the tour companies take you on for a fraction of the price. The boat tour is in English and Spanish. In this trip we saw dolphins swimming along... More

We went on an organized tour with Ecoturismo from La Serena to Punta Choros, with a boat tour of Isla Choros including a landing on Isla Damas, the only island in the reserve that is allowed to be accessed. The tour was absolutely brilliant. Our guide, Jorge, could speak every language we threw at him and was very knowledgeable about... More

I booked a tour with one of the tour companies and they took us to the island on a boat. We got to see a group of dolphins, but sadly it wasn't penguin season.

Very nice bay lost on the Chilean cost at the beginning of the Atacama desert. You'll discover the local Fauna in its natural habitat: Birds, penguins, seals, dolphins and if you are lucky even wales! Make sure you go at the right season though (not breeding season) so you can see all of the fauna.
