I have been to a cruise from Siem Reap to Battambang. They picked us at the hotel at 7 am and than went by minibus to the little harbour in the middle of rice fields. Minibus ride took more then hour! Out boat went through...More
I caught the boat in Siem Reap to Battambang. There where only 4 other tourists on the trip and several locals. The boat wasn’t full so there was lots of room to stretch out.
Wow what a neat way to travel and see some ethnic...More

Travellig to Siam Reap with boat instead of the bus is more expensive and time consuming, but definetely a good choice. You can see a lot of countryside and ordinary river life including the floating villages. The boat is simple, but good. The staff knows...More
We recently took an Angkor Express Boat from Siem Reap to Battambang in early July thinking that the beginning of rainy season would be a nice time to travel by boat, see floating villages, and just do something different in Cambodia.

This is a fun experience if you take it for what it is. It's not fast, definitely not first class, expect to get wet if you sit near the front and it's not the cheapest way to get to Battambang, however we loved it! We...More
The scenery is pretty, its true, but the sardine like boat, frequent stops to pick up more locals, and our wooden seat with no cushion made it so not worth it. We felt it was very overpriced compared to a bus trip. When we were dropped...More

We took this trip 5 days ago Battambang to Siem Reap. The trip down to the boat has steps, wooden ones, Battambang end, that if you are ok with you backpack on your back would be fine with but if you feel a bit unsteady for a dollar they will take a bag down.
At Siem Reap end you are on a dock and can easily get bags off and the steps up are concrete ones. Assume if you do the route in reverse help is available too.
I don’t think the water gets so low you get stuck, I assume they wouldn’t run it if it was in doubt so I wouldn’t worry about that
The docking port further into town is no longer in use. You have no choice but to be dropped off about 10/11 km away from town. The price is fixed but they have a central drop of point. For a small extra fee they usually... More
The docking port further into town is no longer in use. You have no choice but to be dropped off about 10/11 km away from town. The price is fixed but they have a central drop of point. For a small extra fee they usually will take you to your place of lodgings. Be careful the bank is quite steep but there are stairs, if you prefer. Sometimes a person will offer to help you, but it will be for a fee!
