One of the most beautiful and unique Pagodas in Myanmar. Truly a must see. You'll take your shoes off (of course), so watch out for a few small pebbles under your feet. Incredible photo opportunities with the leading lines of the architecture. One of my daughters brought a parasol which was a great prop for her pictures. Walk up to the steps to the balcony that circumnavigates the Pagoda for good views as well. You'll probably spend 1-2 hours here.

Hsinbyume Pagoda, also known as Mya Thien Tan Pagoda, whose base looks like circular terraces – it is a representation of the seven mountain ranges surrounding Mount Meru, the center of the universe in Buddhist cosmology. There is a local street market outside the Hsinbyume pagoda. We bought souvenirs like magnets and few handmade paintings from there.

This pagoda was built by Bagyidaw in 1816. It is dedicated to the memory of his wife, Princess Hsinbyume. She had died in child birth. That's why people also called Hsinbyume Pagoda. Mya Thein Tan mean; 100,000 valued emerald. It was partly damaged by the earthquake of 1838. It was renovated by King Mindon in 1874. This Architecture style is only one style in Myanmar. SO nice to take photo in the white steps of this pagoda.

One of the more memorable pagodas on this trip where we've seen quite a few. You can walk around the lower rings, however, since you have to be barefoot on entry, this isn't recommended since parts of the walkway are dirty, with bird droppings and are cracked with sharp pebbles and rubble. The main platform where the pagoda in on is much more well maintained.
This is a popular site, so if you climb up to the top of the pagoda, it is very crowded with a lot of human traffic in narrow corridors.

This is one of the best and beautiful Stupas in Myanmar. This ia a must see if you visit Myanmar and this stupa was on the cover page of lonely planet. The Hsinbyume Pagoda also known as Myatheindan Pagoda is a large pagoda on the northern side of Mingun in Sagaing Region in Myanmar, on the western bank of the Irrawaddy River. The pagoda was built in 1816 by Bagyidaw.

From what I can gather, this is Burma's equivalent to the Taj Mahal, built as it was by a King as a tribute to his Queen. It's warm white stone and looks like a big heap of unmelting snow. It's beautiful and the undulating design is pleasant to the eye. The little shrine on the top is full of devotees and pretty mauve waterlilies or lotus (not sure) making a lovely counterpoint to the whiteness. It's gorgeous. Don't miss this one. And the undulating balustrades are good photo spots.

The Hsin-byu-me Pagoda, aka Mya Thein Dan Pagoda, aka Hsin Phyu Shin Ceti, is just a few hundred metres beyond the Mingun Bell further down the main street of Mingun. It is a very unusual Paya with a lovely gorgeous white structure. The Paya was built in 1816 by the grandson of the infamous King Bodawpaya, who later became King Bagyidaw, in memory of his first wife, Bodawpaya's granddaughter Hsinbyume, who died in childbirth in 1812.
The seven separate terraces of the Paya are meant to represent the seven mountain ranges and oceans in between and around Mount Meru with the stupa at the top representing Mount Meru itself. Mount Meru is the mythical centre of the universe in Buddhist-Hindu cosmolgy. There are also many small statues on the Pagoda representing various nat spirits, ogres, and naga serpents. All in all it makes for a gorgeous temple.
Plus nice views from the top terrace - in fact better to climb this Pagoda for the views rather than the Mingun Paya, even though it is not as high.

I always be skeptical about these instagram hotspot places and heard about this pagoda i keep my expectation low
But i was blown away by all the beauty of this temple, its even more beautiful if we see through our eyes directly and its a different temples with all the temples and pagoda that i visit in myanmar, even in asia
With all the white colour and magnificient architecture, i can ser why this deserves a visit and trust me its really beautiful and should be on every traveler bucket list when visiting mandalay!
The great news is that the access is so easy with the return boat trip that only cost around 5000 kyat return, 9 am departure and 12.30 back to mandalay jetty
Got no words, you must see to believe!

- Take a cab to the Mingun Jetty in Mandalay. There are 2 ferries between Mandalay and Mingun - one in the morning and the other in the afternoon
- Once you have reached Mingun, you can easily walk down to the Hsinbyume pagoda - this is after the huge Mingun Pagoda
- In case you do not feel like walking - you can hire a horse cart once you recah Mingun
I am told you can also reach Mingun by road. I do not have the details about this though.
