Our family visited Myanmar at the end of December 2015. It maybe not the best time to visit to admire the historical sites as there are schools holiday in Myanmar and all historical attractions are filled with local families, and you find yourself jammed between buses, trucks and annoying motorbikes, all of them fill the air with a strong exhaust.... This is one of my favorite sights in the Mandalay area. Such an enjoyable experience watching villagers and monks cross the bridge from a boat on the lake. Not to mention the fishermen doing their thing around you. Low season so doing some repairs but we'll with the trip regardless.

I ride a bike from Mandalay uptown to U Bik over 2 hours. Exhausted and dehydration :/ cloudy, windy. There and if you want to ride a boat the price is 10000 MMK. Expensive

We went to the bridge for sunrise which is a great time to view it. There are few people around (a few fishermen), no touts and just locals on their way over the bridge. As we visited during the dry season, we could walk quite a way out onto the shores of the lake to get a good view of... More

Visiting this bridge is stunning. Completely remarkable for its length, the very fact that it continues to stand is astonishing. Handmade and constantly being repaired, it is a tribute to the community that everyone wants to cross it at sunset. Take a camera and be prepared for wonders as the sun sets over the river, and people are transformed into... More

This bridge is situated in a beautiful location surrounded by water and rice fields and a great place to go for a walk. There are also several vendors around so you can do your shopping while walking.

Totally lives up to its hype as THE place to take incredible sunset photos. You need to arrive around 4.30 and walk across the teak planks of the bridge, 1.2 km to the other side. You see all manner of life going on with young blokes flirting with bevies of beautiful giggling girls, couples strolling arm-in-arm along the boardwalk, kids... More

U Bein Bridge is one of spotlight of tourist in Amarapura City, the former capital city before Mandalay. The bridge is across Taungthaman Lake in Amarapura with 1.2 km. Some part of it is good but many part of it are wreck and decay. If you love to take a photo. I recommend to visit this place during sunset. Worth... More

It is great to walk across the lake on this worn teak bridge and watch the locals fishing below in the water.
