U Bein Bridge

Nice to see from a boat at sunset. Very popular with tourists & locals, so expect the place to be packed. Good for photography. Interesting construction.

I couldn't figure out what all of the hype was about, but we loved this visit. So many locals out having a walk or a chat. The sunset was beautiful and it was just super picturesque.

The bridge is made of Teak wood is about 1 mile long and about 160 years old. There are no railing on the bridge with a lot of people. There are several beggars on the bridge.

I had quite a romanticised vision of U Bein Bridge with all the lovely sunset photos that you find all over the internet, including the one featured for this listing! Unfortunately, when we went there after a day of touring, there was no sunset to see as it was overcast. There were however still hordes of people. We probably walked... More

Our cruise company had us coached from the Ayeywaday river in time to get on a small boat for two passengers and a boatman to witness the sun setting . It was a magical hour ,they also had staff come up to our small boats with champagne ,just to finish off the magical moments.

I went twice to the bridge. Once in the early morning, which I preferred and once at sunset. In the early morning you will have the bridge to yourself in the morning mist with a few locals and monks. In the afternoon and specially at sunset, this place fills with hundreds of people...if not thousands. All buses and tour cars... More

It's a must see when in Mandalay/Amarapura. Walked the whole bridge. There were many young local couples as it was Valentines Day; it must be a romantic setting for them. The bridge is old with no siderails, so watch your footing and do not fall over the edge.

We visited in the dry season so not a lot of water in the lake. Sadly that meant that in some areas it was very smelly and badly polluted. However the bridge itself is superb. Locals as well as tourists flock here to take in the sunset which, partially due to the levels of air pollution, is spectacular. You can... More

A visit to U Bein's Bridge at sunset is another of those must do things in the Mandalay area. I missed out on the boats as I was 10 minutes late and the boatman had re-let the booking but in the end was quite happy as the couple of hours I had could be spent entirely walking on the bridge... More

Old teakwood bridge, with nice scenery. It's 1.2 km long, and I walk from end to end, twice. And a nice spot to watch sunset in Mandalay.
