Calm, green and refreshing, the city's botanical garden, situated inside the immense Parque Estadual Fontes do Ipiranga (PEFI) on the south side of town, provides a beautifully appointed sanctuary for thousands of tropical plant and animal species. The garden opened in 1938 to preserve part of the remaining Atlantic coastal forest, and it functions as a research facility focusing on Brazilian flora and fauna. The garden also shelters the source of the Rio Ipiranga, which figures heavily into national patriotic lore.

Great place to take a long walk, relatively easy to walk, although there are a couple of hilly paths off of the main paved walkway. You will see amazing tropical flowers and plants, water lilies, butterflies everywhere, a tunnel of bamboo that was amazing, and monkeys up in the trees above you! Well laid out, beautiful scenes to view, lots... More

otherwise not so great as far as Botanical Gardens of the world go. On the + side, a very nice trail leading up into the forest where some streams originate. Supposedly monkeys and sloths there, didn't see one. Armadillo supposedly elsewhere in the part. Did see leaf-cutter ants in the forest - nice to be in nature.

I love to go to Botanico with my wife, the last time my mother-in-low came along and it was, as always a good pass time. The worst thing is that they still only take cash! My in-low is over 60 y/o and got a discount. the birds and the fish are also part of the attraction!

We traveled to Jardim Botanico, and I am convinced that this is a true treasure in Sao Paulo! There is paid, secured parking very close to the gardens. The entrance fee is extremely affordable at R$6/person. Once inside the gardens, we spent about 2 hours walking around seeing the different plants. Everything inside is very lush compared to anything I... More

One of the best public places in São Paulo na Miguel Estefano Avenue 3033-Bairro Saúde . Easy access in the south zone by Ricardo Jafet or Bandeirantes Avenue. It has nearby parking and the ticket is very cheap. Who is lover of the Atlantic Forest will have a good sample. There are greenhouses and lakes, trail well in the back... More

It is a very nice place to be in touch with nature in the middle of Sao Paulo. You see a lot of birds, monkeys and plants. You can also have something to eat and drink inside.

We were really very positively surprised visiting this peaceful oasis in the middle of this busy city. It feels like being in another world for a few hours. Even on a Sunday (January) it was not terribly busy, easy to get a table in the restaurant (by kilo). We decided to add this destination to the "must go" places for... More
