About
Calm, green and refreshing, the city's botanical garden, situated inside the immense Parque Estadual Fontes do Ipiranga (PEFI) on the south side of town, provides a beautifully appointed sanctuary for thousands of tropical plant and animal species. The garden opened in 1938 to preserve part of the remaining Atlantic coastal forest, and it functions as a research facility focusing on Brazilian flora and fauna. The garden also shelters the source of the Rio Ipiranga, which figures heavily into national patriotic lore.

The botanical gardens is really nice experience. While it is lush with green, using the free app allows you to fully experience the diversity. We saw plenty of flowers and loads of monkeys. We also enjoyed the cactus garden.

Accustomed to botanical gardens elsewhere - it is more a park with elements of gardens than a botanical garden.

The ticket price is 25 at the entrance, and 20 when buying online. Attraction is paid, but there are still some shortcomings, such as missing or damaged information plates, greenhouse 1 out of 2 unavailable, 'witch's house' unavailable. At the end of October - very few flowers, I hardly saw animals either.

Nevertheless, I spent a nice time here, at least 3 hours - first walking around the whole area and then a small picnic on the grass.

Apparently paid parking (I came with Uber, so I can't confirm). Bus stop right at the entrance

Is it worth recommending? Well, apart from the 3 flowers, nothing surprised me here. I saw similar vegetation in Ibirapuera Park, which is closer and free. The whole place looks nice, but needs some work for a paid attraction.

Ota quite relaxing the cintact with the nature.
Can be a good option to take a walk here or bring a book, some snacks and chill out among the nature.
The tocket price is R$10. You may take two hours if you just pass by, without really stop and relax.

a little far from the main places but worth if you appreciate nature and have time to visit it. It is nice to make a picnic and enjoy a peaceful day with family and friends. I really love this place !

Even if it not easily accessible by metro and public transportation, it is worth the visit. You forget this chaotic city as soon as you enter the botanical garden. You do not hear the surrounding noise of the city.
You can walk on asphalted road or non asphalted ones and enjoy a large variety of vegetation.
There is a very good self-service restaurant inside the park, much better than what you would expect in a place where you have no option to chose.

Very peaceful setting with lots of trails winding through the wooded areas. It feels like you’re walking through the Amazon jungle—you may even spy howler monkeys or sloths in the trees!

Reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, I hoped to see an armadillo here, and maybe a sloth. Agoutis, monkeys, lizzards would be a bonus to me. At first I was disappointed. Having made my way through three quarters of the park I hadn't seen any of these animals. But then I saw some monkeys, and then a different monkey species, and then howler monkeys announced themselves with their typical sound. They were a bit off the tourist path, but could just be seen. After food around 15.00, I went for another round, and saw the three types of monkeys again, the highlight being the howler monkeys at the far end of the park, at the trilha da Nascente. This time they were right next to the path, up in some high trees.

The greenhouses have some interesting exhibits, such as the skeleton of a maned wolf, and eggs of the 'ema'-bird, a Brazilian walking bird, like a small ostrich or emu.

This botanical gardens were hands down my favorite place that I’ve visited in São Paulo! First off, it’s incredibly affordable to get in. Second, the further you walk into the gardens, the more breathtaking it gets. There are tons of park benches where you can take a seat and soak it all in. I spent a good amount of time just sitting and watching the turtles swim around in a pond. Bring your lunch and a good book and enjoy a wonderful afternoon surrounded by beauty. I’ll definitely be coming back before I leave.
