Neighbourhood:
Sé, which derives its name from Sé Square, is a central neighbourhood in historic São Paulo. Close by, the Law School, the Museum of the Court of Justice and the Metropolitan Cathedral offer inspiring architecture. If you are looking for cultural activities, head to Caixa Cultural and check the schedule. In the area there is a popular pedestrian street called “Rua Direita”, one of the first streets in the region, which today marks the crowded perimeter. Sé is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.

Praça da Sé lies in front of São Paulo Cathedral. It is a beautiful, and fairly well maintained park. Nice monuments Much safer here than Praça Republica.

The Se Square is beautifully done and well kept. Surrounded by stunning architecture you are bound to enjoy it.

The only thing I'd add is that this part of the city tends to attract a lot of shady characters so please beware.

This is a very interesting point to visit in Sao Paulo. Take the subway is way easier than drive, take a cab or bus. Stop at the Se station and walk the the surface. You will find the old church that worth the visit because of its architectural value. The square in front of the church has the 0 point that indicates the distance to N,S,W and E states in Brazil. Be aware that this place is very dirty and full of homeless, so you need to be careful and watch your surroundings.

If you want pretty photos of Sao Paulo, the square in front of the cathedral is your place! It's beautiful! Marvellous. With all these palm trees.

Not sure why you would want to hang about here much as im sure you have all got homeless people to look at at home. Perhaps because here its on a whole different level. Turn right out of the metro station towards the Cathedral and enter a world of limping scuffling limbless groaning souls plaintively wailing out to passers by "amigo amigo". People lying everywhere , what you think is a pile of rubbish is probably a person, or at least whats left of one. God bless em all, who knows what the future holds for anyone but I wouldnt want my mine to leave me here. Avoid, its sad. depressing and a little unnerving.

The neigborhood is not that much to see. I was unsure if there was supposed to be shopping, bars or restaurants. Maybe it was a financial district, because I don't remember wanting to enter anything on any street.

It is unbelievable why they allow all these homeless people lie around in the central square cooking their food in open fires and playing with homeless dogs. The cathedrals on the square is great but overall the feeling is not comfotable

If your a girl travelling solo, rather join the free walking tour than doing this ara alone. There is alot of homeless people and druggies but the centre of SP is a interesting area. The architecture looks different and there is also a beautiful cathedral to visit. There are afew cool restuarnts to visit near November 15th street

Bairro da Sé, whose name derives from Praça da Sé, is the central neighborhood in the historic part of São Paulo. Nearby, there is the Faculty of Law, the Court of Justice Museum and the Metropolitan Cathedral, which display inspiring architecture. If you are looking for cultural activities, head to Caixa Cultural and check the schedule. In the area, there is a famous pedestrian street called “Rua Direita”. Today, this street (one of the first in the region) demarcates the busy perimeter. The Sé is an incredible place to visit during the day, even so, with great care and attention. Do not go to the region at night. As a São Paulo native, I feel sad about the social degradation of that historic region. When leaving the subway station, we feel like we are in another world. A place for homeless people and drug addicts. The place, even with police, is very dangerous due to many robberies and personal attacks. They attack in groups and make very quick trawls and then disappear. Always try to be in company, never walk alone and distracted. There is a pressing need to carry out a new social reorganization of the entire central region of the city.
