Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo is located in Parque Ibirapuera. The museum was designed in 1950's by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and his team. The museum has a diverse collection of works and has the most important collection in Latin America. We enjoyed our time at the museum and visited all the exhibiting areas and we were also able to visit the rooftop where there were spectacular views of Parque Ibirapuera and of Downtown São Paulo.

MAC is a very nice gallery with many beautiful collections of twentieth century contemporary and modern art. Impressively beautiful works of art by Brazilian and other artists.

Not only the exhibitions were interesting, but the skyline view you have on the top floor make the visit worth it. Will be back with a camera!

The museum is just a short walk from the park. Its free to get in and there are 4 or 5 floors of really interesting art focusing on Brazilian and South American art. There is a great cafe and a restaurant with views of Sao Paulo.

I enjoyed several hours at the museum. They have an eclectic collection of art from
European impressionists to Brazilian contemporary artists and it’s FREE.
A massive cat greets you on the first floor and later you will bump into an elephant and a rhino. The collection includes paintings, statues, devices and visual arts. I started on the 8th floor observation deck that provides a great view of Ibiripuera Park and the São Paulo skyline. The 7th floor exhibits include the Picasso, Chegall, Modigliani, Braque and Miro plus other paintings. The sixth floor focuses on South American artists.
I suggest pairing this with a visit to Ibiripuera Park. The museum is connected to the park by a pedestrian bridge.

We spent 2+ hours here on our last day in Sao Paolo. While the promise of Modiglianis, Chagalls, Picassos, Braques and Miros brought us here, the Brazilian and South American artists were most enjoyable. A breath of fresh air from Eurocentric art. We spent most of our time on Floors 6 and 7.
Do not miss the Observatory for views over Sao Paolo and Ibirapuera Park.

The museum is what it should be, well lit and full of native, contemporary, and international art. It is always evolving. As an artist I was happy to see artists from all over the world well represented. Each room was a delight in art and culture.

This place is amazing. You walk through art history in a most excited exposition. Also the overview of the work of the Brazilian artist Tarsila was an eyeopener.

Few places have it all. And lucklily the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) is one of them.
The museum features a wide range of artistic pieces, from Tarsila do Amaral to Yoko Ono (this one is right at the museum entrance). With an impressive a collection the museum is only a short walk from Ibirapuera Park.
To top it all it has a nice café, with brunch options and a restaurant at the top of the buidilng.
At the beautiful deck at the terrace (open to visitors any day, any time and for free) you can see the park, A Oca and the Ibirapuera Auditorium (a venue for concerts).
The best time to go there is on a sunny day.

Nice buffet (>$20), very fresh stuff, clean and friendly and good service, pretty expensive, however.
