Pinacoteca is a museum of visual arts, with emphasis on Brazilian production since the nineteenth century. It belongs to the São Paulo State Secretariat of Culture. It was founded in 1905 by the State Government of São Paulo and it is the oldest art museum in the city. It is installed in the old building of the Arts and Crafts College, designed in the late nineteenth century by the architect Ramos de Azevedo. In the 1990's it underwent an extensive renovation with the architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha's project. Pinacoteca hosts about thirty exhibitions and receives about 450,000 visitors yearly. The museum's main focus is to promote to general public a better experience with visual arts with its collection, building and historical relevance.

The Pinacoteca museum has always very interesting temporary exibition and now they are presenting a permanent exibition of the Nemirovsky collection of Brazilian Modern art. A must see. Some of the most important Brazilian artists and there most significant Paintings are in exibition.

A comprehensive overview of the history of Brazilian art. I thought the restoration of the building was really imaginative. It's free on Saturday, and handy for the metro at Luz. Good cafe

You Will understand better about brazilian arts André history. Somente 2 or more hours visiting. You wont fins a good André no expensive store. Good jewellerys.

What can I say beauty surrounds here from the minute you see the outside, till you go on the inside. Very beautiful art and architecture. Makes you want to live inside of this palace. Well worth your time to visit.
