I've heard some disparaging reviews of Monte Serrat, but really, it was a great experience. The history of the location was very cool, and it was neat to learn more in the time we spent atop the hill. The ride up and down was very fun - not too fast and not too slow. Just perfect to enjoy the beautiful scenery and amazing views! It was raining the day we went, but it was still really beautiful. The whole thing was inexpensive, fun and worth the trip. If you are going to Santos, this should be on your list of to-dos there.

Monte Serrat, very beautiful, ancient place to visit and know the history, to climb has to be a little bit, climbs from 30 in 30 minutes, so to descend, 30 kingdoms to climb and descend, if you prefer, you can climb 15 kingdoms and descend the stairs, the place is beautiful, a very beautiful view of the city of Santos, you can see the Port of Santos and Guarujá, there above we have the church of Monte Serrat, very beautiful, worth the walk, research about the history before climbing, it is more beautiful, worth the walk.
On the gps search for a little monte serrat, there is parking, 10 reais, but on the street there is almost always vacancy.
I RECOMMEND THE VISIT

I rate Monte Serrat very good only because of the view. A funicular or rack railway took us up to the top of what was a casino until Brazil outlawed gambling in perhaps the 1920's. There is a small cafe up top where you can get refreshments. There is also a small chapel open to the public. The building has three floors and the best views are from the roof top.

We took the funicular railway to the top of Mount Serrat and went round the old Casino. Some fabulous views across the city on all sides. It is worth the effort to go to the second floor where the views are even better.

Good look, goodies that go up every 30 minutes. Sensational view. Higienized bathrooms. I found parking lot, but on the street you can park by the rotating.
The little church is a flame.
Missed Guide.

For R$18 a piece, we were able to go up Monte Serrat. From here, there is a great view of the city and port. There is a nice building, as well as a picturesque church. Definitely a fun way to spend an hour.

I thought this attraction was pretty poor. I'll explain why -
- The cost to use the tram to go and down up is huge! $23R!! More than my lunch that day! Considering it's only about 150m I would have walked had it been possible. I've been on cable cars and trams that go more than 20 times that distance but cost a fraction.
- The view isn't actually that good. You get a good view of the 'bad' side of Santos. A horrible port and horrible buildings. Being high up is the only benefit. It's like being over a big peak in the UK....overlooking somewhere like Hull. Quite a lot of smog too.
- The other side is a bit nicer, looking towards the beach area but bear in mind it's a long way away and all you can really see are the large buildings.
Really wish i'd saved my money.

What a great experience was this! It was the first time for me in Santos and had no idea what we where going to do. But when I saw it I was so excited. It was weird but amazing feeling going up and down.
The view you see is so beautiful to see of Santos. Thank you!

O preço no bondinho é R$ 35,00.

Sim, é possível subir a pé.

Boa viagem pra voce :)
