The Parque is quiet and well maintained. The grandkids and we liked the replica of the ship. They also enjoyed riding on the swan boats and the tram.
Outside has several shops for refreshments.
Restrooms were clean.
Nice for walking or running on the paths.

Parque Portugal is built around Taquaral Lake and conveniently located near the downtown area in the city of Campinas, SP. The highlight for many patrons is the wide, hard-packed, dirt walkway circumventing the lake. Shaded by a ring of trees, some close to a century old, the road is swept almost daily and offers a magnificent place for walking/running. Geese and water fowl often adorn the lakeshore. The facility encompasses a variety of leisure options such as: pedal boats, children's playground, small amphitheater for community events, a working streetcar, in-door gymnasium, outdoor courts, outdoor swimming pool, and even a full-sized replica of an old Portuguese galleon ship! Access is free to the public as is parking in several lots scattered around the perimeter. If you are looking for a great place to get in your daily steps, look no further!

A park around a lake with several activities, ideal for families with children: park train, a big old ship, boating and several playgrounds.
Around the lake green area with forest area good for walking or running Also several wild animals can be seen inthe park. Some stands offer drinks and food, also free fresh drinking water is available. I was impressed by the cleanlyness of the public toilets here!

They are trying to improve the park. The shops and kiosks outside are much better but they still need to invest a lot for me to be able to call it pleasant.

A great place to visit and spend 1-2h

We spent the morning walking and snapping photos at this park.

It's a very well looked after Park, with a little train that still runs around the old track and loads of super tall leafy trees, and rich fauna!

We saw capybaras, angola hens, ducks, all sorts of birds, all wandering free and healthy within the park.

In the middle of the lake this water-fountain "plays" classical music from loudspeakers around it.

Beyond the fountain you can see the famous "Caravel" replica, built and launched in 1972, and recently refurbished in September 2018. This vessel is a replica of the "nau Anunciação" which bought Pedro Álvares Cabral to Brazil, in 1500. This is a must-see spot in Campinas!

Very nice to walk in the hot summer days of Campinas. This place yields some pretty good photos, and it's a nice place for picnics too. Drink a lot of water, the hot sun of Campinas is no joke!

This is a great park in a nice area of town. We've lived in Campinas for 9 years and this park just keeps getting better. Our kids would play in the sand park when they were little and the other parents were always friendly and fun to talk to. The track around the park is a great place to stroll or get a work out. One of our favorite things are the salty pastries (pastel) and Sugar Cane juice for lunch. So many other things to do and see, check it out for yourself.

We visited Campinas for work but during our off day we visited this park. It made for locals but it’s super clean and taken care of. I was so happy to have seen a capybara for the first time in my life! They’re usually just lounging about and sunbathing. So many cute little creatures and birds! We walked the loop and the weather was perfect for it. Just beware of ticks, wear closed toed shoes and socks!

No wonder so many postcards include several aspects of this park! The lake (which is really a small dam) has clean waters, - but not for swimming! - and the trees guarantee the quality of the air. There are tables and benches for resting and for pickniching, too. there are tracks where people run, jog, walk or stroll. There are other attractions, like the big open-air theatre for music, the planetarium, one of the towns main sports hall and a public swimming pool of olympic dimensions. Many people run on the outside sidewalk which goes completely round the whole park, quite a good distance. There are also, for rent, the inevitable swan-shaped floaters which you can pedal around, and there is a relatively small water fountain that shoots water quite high up into the air. Even on very hot days, because of the trees, tha place is very agreeabel, and nice to be in.
