It's a great place to know in Florianopolis, but it depends on the sea level.
We went in a cloudy day, and the pools weren't available, but the rocks formation is beautiful.

I was advised that pools you need to hike, so appropriate footwear and company as trail is not very easy, pools refreshing

Both the trail and the natural pools of Barra da Lagoa are absolutely beautiful, refreshing and arguably one of the most beautiful spots on the entire island.

With this being said there are three things to watch out for:

#1. Right before entering the trail you will cross a small river in Barra da Lagoa and I'd recommend to be careful in this area. I visited the trail with my wife in April of 2020 and we felt a bit unsafe after unintentionally witnessing a drug deal and having multiple men stare and partially follow us.

May just have been paranoid but better safe than sorry.

#2. When navigating through the rock formations that create the natural pools be careful. Many of the rocks are extremely slippery and there are multiple crevices that are several feet deep that would be impossible to get out of on your own.

#3. The pools can be a great place for swimming but be mindful of the tide which can throw you against the rocks if you're not careful. The left side of the piscinas were much more calm than the right side from our experience.

Q: How do you get to the Piscinas Naturais (natural pools) Barra da Lagoa?

A: Your GPS will likely take you next to a blue metal bridge and may even tell you to cross via car which is impossible.

What you will do is find nearby parking or have your Uber drop you off there, cross the bridge and take the first left.

First you will pass by some residential and commercial buildings before entering the more secluded portion of the trail.

You will next come to a fork in the trail where you can choose to go left or right.

Head right for the natural pools (piscinas naturais).

The trail should have clear markings with a few small side trails for scenic spots along the way.

Great place to swim in the ocean without the threat of waves or current. There is a fun rock to jump off of which is fun and the water is dead enough to jump with caution of course. You do have to walk a little bit and it is not wheelchair accessible. Good for kids 12 yrs and older. The rocks can be a little challenging to navigate.

This was a quick little trek to have such a beautiful view. Beware that the neighborhood where the trail starts is super touristy! Super hard to get in and out of there.

You can see fish swim near you and jump off the rocks into the water. You can also sun bathe on the rocks. Bring your own snacks and water!

The natural pools do require you to know how to swim. The water is deep and I would never bring kids there.
