Nice view and nice hike, very beautiful views. Best take some water on sunny days.
In the little town where hike starts, are taxi motocycles to bring you up already for a part of the trip. In tourist season, it can be crowdy with lots of people waiting to take their photo. When it's cloudy try to wait for a better moment, as clouds can be low and beaches will not be visible.

Went from Rio on a Friday morning, arriving around 0930hrs. First thing - don't park at the first opportunity down in the town, it is a massive uphill walk to the start of the trail. Try and get as far up as possible in the car - parking close to the trail head was R$30 maximum. We following a motor-taxi bloke up and was glad when we realised how far up we could get in the car.
The walk is very pleasant, not a difficult one, some lovely views at various points on the way up too (see the pic).
However, once at the top there were around 40 people in front of us, some taking the p*ss too and spending forever getting loads of photos. We decided to give up and just get photos sat on the rock adjacent to the overhang. There is a fella selling beer/gatorade/water at the top though :-)
On the way down decided to take the fork to Praia do Meio. What a fantastic beach - not a sinlge person on it. Adds a worthwhile second location to the hike, especially if making the effort to drive down to the area from Rio anyway.

We took an Uber from Copacabana to the base of the hill - took about 1.5 hour drive. Once we arrived at the base, There were some motorbike drivers who offered to take us to the beginning of the trail - which was about 1/3 of the way - it’s steep. We’ve declined and walked from the bottom to the top - took us an hour to the top. We saw a couple of monkeys during our hike - that was great! Bring repellents though! Mosquitos everywhere!
Also bring your Patience! When we got to the top, there were about 15 people in front of us. We waited 2 hours since everyone took their sweet time with their pictures! All these wanna-be instas had to re-take every pictures before they let the next person take pics.
The hike uphill can be difficult , some spots are slippery. But it’s do-able - bring water! The view is beautiful and rewarding! If it wasn’t for all these inconsiderate insta people, it would have been a more enjoyable experience.

We had to make 2 trips from Rio to accomplish this hike. The first time we left from Rio at 8:30 am, and by the time we arrived, there was no parking, thus we turned around and drove back to the hotel. The next day we left Rio by 6:45 am and had lots of parking options. We did the hike in about an hour and had no line for pictures at the top. By the time our group of 4 had taken a dozen pictures, there was an hour+ line waiting for their turn to take pictures. A few tips: (1) Google maps will mostly get you there, but from the main road, there will be a steep road that curves up and to the left…this is the road you take, and after a few blocks, you will start to find houses and small lots that offer parking. (2) near the top, we found a couple groups that couldn’t find the rock. Once at the “top”, you have to go a couple hundred yards down the other side (towards the ocean) before you find the rock you are looking for. Using Google maps (and our gps location) helped us find the rock when others got lost.

There are two criminals (one with long white hair and the other one with a Canon camera) blocking the rock and charging people money to take a picture. They claim there is a queue but only people who pay them get to the rock. DO NOT PAY THEM, take your own picture. Generally prepare to wait for 2-5 hours, if you even get to take a picture at all. So not worth the wait for a fake selfie.

Me and my husband did one super cray tour with our local tour guide Alvaro and we had one of the best days spend in Rio. This place it’s still not that popular and you can explore the wild and beautiful nature. Hiking in the wood in order to reach this place is around 50-60min one way but it’s worth the efforts. The view from the top is splendid. It’s taking a lot of time in order to get the nice picture on the clif, but as every other touristic place it’s manageable. Just prepare a jacket( it’s super windy), mosquito repellent and comfortable shose.
You won’t regret visiting this place.

After a sometimes strenuous 40 minute hike, you arrive at the top and are rewarded with a great view. A line forms to wait your turn to take the best photos. Many people will take their time taking photos, so expect a long wait. We arrived at the top around 8:15am and there was a 15-20 minute wait to take a photo.
Get there early and you won't have to wait long. Parking is limited. Keeping going as far as you can (driving) to limit the walk. Parking will cost about 20 reais.

When is the best time to take pictures? In the early morning, noon or evening? Basically I am asking would sun comes from the back and makes the face dark when taking pictures if going in the early morning to skip the line.

Hi!
Is it a real trekking through an unmarked or defined path, or is it a steep hill with an easy to follow path?
Are there railings to hold on to.
I would appreciate as much details as possible.
I have an injured knee, but can walk long distances.
Thanks in advance.

It is a steep path to follow. There are a few ledge (rocks) to skirt around. The loose stones make the descent quite slippery. There are no hand rails but you might need a sturdy stick. I am not sure about the rock itself because it is sheer rock, not easy to climb up and over with an injured knee! Good luck.

I don't think so. It's a really steep climb and its not paved.
Consigo fazer esse passeio sem guia?

Sim. Vi várias pessoas se aventurando por lá, mas nem se compara se você fizer com o apoio do guia Anderson. O cara é top. Não é caro e vale a pena. Vai por mim.
