Primarily a recreation area for Cariocas, the 5-mile pathway circling the lake is popular for walkers, skaters, and cyclists. In the evening there may be live music, and kiosks serving drinks and food.

the beaches are great...but my favorite jogging experience is around the lake (7,5 km), perhaps less `touristic` but with a unique atmosphere. After jogging there are many places to get a cold beer and different snack food. If you`d rather row, this is where the rowing venue for the Rio Olympic Games- if you have watched them you`ll remember the... More

If there is one place I love in Rio it is Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. Anytime you go, you can find something to do there. You can rent a bike and ride round the lake, run or just walk around it, you will feel renewed. The sunset is the best part of it. If you are going to Rio, make... More

Despite the smell from the lake, this is an incredible place to visit, is absolutely view from south zone from Rio. The mayor of the city should do something to make this spot 100% perfect, its really beautiful.

The landscape of the lake is magnificent. There is a paved track around it for people to go there for walking, jogging, or cycling, mainly; roller skating can be practiced, too. Great just to seat and admire nature, and enjoy its atmosphere. Kioscs along the path offer beverages and snacks. Conveniently located near main Rio beaches. I enjoyed it a... More

OK we went with friends for walk around the lake and to have a look what its all about. It was nice to have different view on the city an its popular with people doing jogging. There is place where you can rent Swan pedal boats and navigate the lake.

Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is a natural lake in contact in the ocean by a canal coming from Ipanema beach. The water is not very clear but for water sports is the place in Rio. From the lake we can see "Corcovado" and "Tijuca" nature park and his mountains. There are some restaurants near the sports center and at Horse... More

You'll get a nice view of some Mountains including Corcovado from an inner spot of Río de Janeiro but it's just an upper class neighborhood with closed buildings so it's kinda boring. There's not much to do other than walk around. You can't bath in the lake -not allowed and the water is not very clean-.

Bad bit out the way first - sadly this lake is not nice for swimming, but everybody hopes and prays that one day it will be cleaner. As scenery goes, however, it´s amazing. Best to hire a bike and cycle around the whole lake and stop at a kiosk or two for a drink. On the way round there are... More

Nice place with a lovely view, this lake is located in the heart of zona sul. Theres a path where cyclists share the same space with pedestrians. It is a nice option for a walk or jogging. To ride a bike is a bit complicated due to the amount of people walking. The issue is its safety. The place looks... More
