We walked from Leme to Forte Duque de Caxias, took around 1 hour. Very interesting history even though the language . Had a drink and snack at the Cafe. A very leisurely way to spend the morning . Entrance fee is BR 8 per person.
It's worth coming up here for the view. Great view of Sugarloaf on one side and Copacabana on the other. The hike up is on a stone road, no trouble there. There were hundreds of marmosets on top, protect your food. They're savage, but cute....More
Worth the 4 REALS we paid. The hike was amazing, we went early morning to avoid the mid-day heat. Saw many of the monkeys along the path. The view from the top is amazing, one side Copacabana the other Sugarloaf Mountain. Definitely a hidden gem!
