If you are in the area during opening times (12:00-18:00. Closed on Mondays) it's worth stepping in and walking around, there are exhibits and also a café. It's interesting to compare the colonial feel of it (Imperial) to the Tiradentes Palace (Republic) next door.

Despite its historical importance to Brazill expect nothing more than poor architecture and empty rooms only. Enjoy a nice and welcome restaurant inside.

The building was because of military ways an important building. Now, there's a restaurant inside the place and you can only see some empty rooms with art on the wall

Interesting, as a Brazilian, I was not aware about that place so full of historic background. Unfortunately, the temporarily exposition was really poor, but, the building itself was worth a visit

As unique as it might sound, this is where it happened. Many kingdoms have ruled oceans. Many kings has reached across seas. But never a king ♔ came to his colony and rule trough it. Brazil (Portugal colony) housed the emperor and, from here, he...More

Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born.
With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical
buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living
proof that the old and the new can live together
harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where
all major companies house their offices. However, the
