Breathtaking and worth going

A very good attraction. Very easy access by cable car. You can even walk down to have a glimpse of the tropical forest. Well worth a visit

My wife and I visited here as part of day trip around Rio. Firstly is the two cable car journeys which are really amazing and are integral part of the trip. The views from the first station are amazing but wait until you reach the summit of sugarloaf mountain. The views are truly amazing and thanks for digital camera allowing... More

A must do in Rio! Fantastic views and plenty to do for a few hours! The cable car ride is an experience for all and once you reach the top you are met with the most stunning views of Rio de Janeiro! The restaurant, shops and museum will keep all the family busy for hours! Very informative of the history... More

Iconic and deservedly so. You must accept some delays when visiting such an iconic location and when you do then you can sit back and enjoy the magnificent views over the city. You might also be interested in James Bond's calves car from 'Moonraker' which is on exhibit. A must do and well worth the effort.

This key attraction in Rio de Janeiro is reached by two cable cars, which cost a rather expensive 62 Reais! The first cable car takes you to Urca Hill, where it is worth spending some time for a few photos. The second cable car then takes you to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain with spectacular views. Your cable car... More

Nice views over the city when you get to the top. Both cable cars ran without too much waiting and seemed to be very well organised. Short taxi ride from Copacabana.

The cable car ride up to the mountain appears scary from a distance, but the ride actually moves quickly and offers spectacular views of the city.

Not as large as I was expecting but you need to go before noon as it gets packed on the 2 cable cars.

We went early in the morning so there were no queues and no waiting. The view was wonderful as the air was clear at that hour----go early!!! It's worth it!

Staying in Urca

Neighbourhood Profile
Urca
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
