2 cable car rides take you to the very top, the views of Rio from the top are absolutely amazing! I recommend hiring a tour guide which helps bypass long lines to buy tickets and you also get to see a lot more of the city. We used Manu Peclat and you can also see my review of him on... More

Oh well. I was told a lotmof bad stuff about Rio de Janeiro in general, but mostly i was told that tourists are in danger in crowded tourist areas like this one. Personally i did not have any single problem with anyone there but i guess the timing of going to Sugarloaf mountain was bad since firstly- i barely managed... More

I went on a full day tour that includes the main attractions. We started at Sugarloaf Mountain and the tour was ended at Corcovado. These two places complete each other: Corcovado is higher and you can see more of the city. Sufarloaf is closer to the sea, and you can see the bay and part of the city from a... More

At first Rials 80/- for this attractions sounds pricey but after having been there, one can say it was worth it. The views are magnificent all around, the atmosphere is great and the twin cable cars ride is excellent. Souvenir shops at the top plus cafes, souvenir stalls at ground level, WCs where you need them ..... in short, a... More

I am a tour guide and usually go there all the time. The renovation was done perfectly well. It is now more comfortable for guests. It was really a great improvement. I do recommend this tour.

Amazing landscape, but don't go if it's cloudy. Awesome!! Go up to the top, it might be kinda scary but it is worth every second.

This is probably the best view of the gorgeous Rio! If you get there around 4 or 5pm you're guaranteed to see the sunset and best view of the day. I advise everyone to spend a little more money and get the fast pass up the mountain, worth the money than sitting in the heat in line!

Great place ! You can't miss it if you come to Rio. Have lunch in Urca beach and around 3;30pm take the cable car visit the sites and wait for the sunset. Especially if you have a great company ! Enjoy !

Staying in Urca

Neighbourhood Profile
Urca
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
