Exceptional Life Experience

An absolute must, seriously. Go late afternoon and stay for the sunset. We jammed for more than 3 hours talking, beer and soaking in the views. Exceptional.

Well worth a trip up. The cable cars are a great experience and there is enough at both stations on the way up to keep you busy - views, food, drink. Although on the pricey side.

The cable car journey to the top in 2 stages is very exciting with restaurants and shops at the lower level. The views from the top are simply unbelievable. A must do if you are visiting Rio.

The cable car ride up to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain is spectacular and something you cannot miss when visiting Rio. The views are incredible from the top and even if you know the city fairly well, this perspective is like no other. Quite simply an absolute must-do. We went mid afternoon (around 4) and must have got lucky as... More

For Sugarloaf Mountain, we took a bus one block back from Copacabana beach which dropped us off 5 minutes from the cable car entrance. We went early “to beat the crowds” and there was no line up. In fact, at one stage, we were the only ones on the top level. So many wonderful views from the top. There are... More

Its an important sight seeing, a must do! Really cool place to be, not loads of things to do though... Just need to be there and chill, RJ is named cidade maravilhosa (marvelous city) because it's visually really great!

There are not enough words to describe how beautiful it when you are up there crossing the sky between one mountain and the other and yet, there's more to come...Once you arrive, we were speechless, the place was so nice, nature is so overwhelming...Really beautiful! Highly recommended.

After competing the tour at Christ, the views were great but not quite as spectacular. I guess as you are nowhere near as high. So probably do this first. Cool little marmoset monkeys running around everywhere. The best part was the cool bar at the top. Relaxed environment chilled house music. $25 caipirinha were a bit over the top considering... Staying in Urca

Neighbourhood Profile
Urca
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
