    Tijuca Forest & Jardim Botanico
Our guide, Jal, took us to the Tijuca Forest/Tijuca National Park. We got lucky because I feel like we got the place to ourselves because there was minimal visitors at that time. Jal took us to see the waterfall, the lake and the forest and it was magical! He is very knowledgeable and he makes an effort to give us the best experience possible. We also went to the Jardim Botanico and the sheer size of the place and the different species of plants was very impressive. I was hoping to see animals but we did hear some birds and see fishes and turtles. Jal also offered to take our pictures and he’s also a very good photographer! I would recommend this tour 100%.

Lovely huge park (mountains) on the edge of the city
We went primarily for birding, which is why we spent an entire morning there. Depending on how much time you are spending in Rio, you might not want to spend that much time. But if you're there for 4 days or a week, there are lots of trails to explore inside this park. It's free to enter. There are multiple entrances, so check to see what works best with your travel plans. The views are amazing from up higher. There is at least one waterfall, probably more. There are dozens of different native bird species that live in the park. It was on the cool side all morning as we were there in July and the angle of the sun (as well as the tall trees) meant that we were primarily in the shade.

    Very nice
We toured this park with a guide in a car. We stopped at a number of view points with very nice views of Rio. It's a very luch forest/jungle particularly considering it's in the middle of a huge city. There are quite a few places to hike/bike for those inclined to do so.

Went for a long hike in the Tijuca Forest. Got a cab to take us to the trailhead and then followed the excellent signage along the trail. Waterfalls, caves, ruins

An amazing bit of Atlantic rain forest next to a huge city. Lots of trails to follow, green everywhere, votive offerings in so many corners and the odd waterfall to cool down.

Absolutely beautiful trails! The flora and fauna are one of a kind. If you're in Rio and it's a rainy day, I highly recommend stopping by the park. The natural canopies will get you misty, but not fully drenched. And the waterfalls are stunning. If you take your time, you'll most definitely spot a tucan or a family of monkeys up in the trees. Be sure to check out great panoramic views at the Chinese Vista! Note: The trails can be a bit daunting for trail newbies. Saw some people bite off more than they could chew embarking on some of the paths.

I did the waterfall hike and it was amazing. It was very crowded for a Monday at the first two waterfalls we didn’t even take photos there instead we continued down a difficult path with chains and ropes to the third waterfall which was beautiful and though there were several people around it was still possible to get in the waterfall alone. My brother and I were the only gringos here. The trail continues past the third waterfall to a bunch of small waterfalls just beautiful. These are the things that make me
Love life. I got a ton of bug bites I don’t think they were mosquitoes. I forgot to reapply bug spray after getting out of the waterfall. The bites are still on my legs a week later.

This place is a must see if in Rio! I would suggest going with a tour as I did a lot of research before going. There seems to be petty crimes happening to those that go it alone. The forest is cool and refreshing.

We went with a tour and had a great time. The forest is beautiful with loads of hidden gems that our tour guide explained to us as we went to the different spots. We also got to see some wildlife.

We wanted to get a taste of the Brazilian forest. Of course it is vast and we decided to tackle it with a jeep tour.

The weather was hot, you need good shoes when you get out of the jeep and plenty of mozzie repellent.

There was some walking but not too much, there were some good views, a small waterfall. Having a guide meant we got some information as well.

Try to stay out of the way of the monkeys.
