I loved this beach and at a walking or cycling distance the beaches near by also. The cycle route is great, not awfully packed even at the weekend - I went cycling all the way to praia da macumba and praia da reserva. you can...More

This one of the best beaches in Rio because is far from the crowdy of South Zone and Barra. If you are of the kind that wants to have your own space and relax in a beach day, this is an excellent choice for you.

If you want to relax and not get bothered like at Ipanema or even worse Copacabana beach, take a trip to Recreio or even closer Barra beach. Much cleaner and safer.

Go if you are tired of crowd beaches. This spot is popular among local people, but due to its distance, very rarely it gets busy.

it is formed as a double crescent giving protection from waves and wind. nice white sands. And the beach bars always present to cater your needs.

Too many locals in some days and nothing really special to see. If it is on your way then stop by to take a look.

This was one of our favourite spots in Rio! very few tourists, a few vendors but you arent bothered by them...if you are energetic, wait until the sandbar is exposed and go over to the island/mountain and hike up/repell down!

Get all the beach-y goodness of Rio without the tourist crowds. Clean, blue waves are ridden by locals on surf and skim boards. The sand is clean and soft and the boardwalk bars keep you hydrated and full. NOTE: watch out for the red flags....More

Took a long walk along the beach during my first day in Rio. A much more relaxed, family-friendly vibe than at the better known beaches. Many places to stop for food and/or drink, some with bands.
