in my opinion one of the best beaches in Rio, maybe the best during the week, in the morning used the sand is longer than in the afternoons. In the Weekend it is quite difficult to find space to parking the cars. There is no public transportation, maybe a good idea is going by UBER or Taxi.

It could be the most amazing beach experience ever, but you may check the wind position before you go - be sure the Jacarepagua's lagoon water is flowing to the opposite side. And also is good to have in mind that the sand line is quite small so check the tides also.

This is a great spot to experience a different beach vibe in Rio! It was pretty crowded when we were there (high tide means less sand for beachgoers) but the water was amazing. There was also a stand to rent umbrellas and buy drinks. We went in the afternoon after hiking Pedra Bonita, which was a good combination.

You may not see any beach during high tide like it happened for us. Still, we had great time siting on the rocks and watching the power of ocean. The waves were splashing very very high when they hit the rocks. So, must be great spot for surfers. Needs walking down a still steep path and feels very tropical. It... More

Went there and ended up on the rocks. No signal either so hard to get back although there was one moto-taxi.

Joatinga is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. A local told me to go there and I'm glad I did. While not easy to get to, it is worth the effort! I took an uber as close as it would get and then walked about 5 minutes to get there. It's secluded and it was only locals.... More
